Music legends such as Boney M. Liz Mitchell, Joy and Samantha Fox will perform at “Dalat Spring Concert” on the evening of December 21 at Lam Vien Square.
Boney M and Joy came to Vietnam to perform 5 years ago. The concert attracted nearly 4,000 spectators and really caused a stir on social networking forums.
In this comeback, Boney M and Joy promise to bring an emotional music night, satisfying the expectations of thousands of music lovers.
Founded in 1976 in Germany with 4 members, Boney M became famous with Daddy Cool, Sunny (1976) and then Rivers of Babylon, Rasputin (1978). These songs took all the global music charts by storm and quickly became famous in Vietnam thanks to their cheerful, vibrant, easy-to-listen and easy-to-sing melodies.
The band became a monument of Disco and Reggae music in the world in the 1970s and is still considered one of the world's legendary bands.
Boney M has had over 40 hit singles and released at least 30 albums, with an impressive total of sales of over 250 million copies worldwide, including compilations and reissues. The group has won numerous prestigious awards and multiple gold and platinum certifications for albums such as Nightflight to Venus and hits like Daddy Cool,Rasputin.
Liz Mitchell, frontman of Boney M, came to Vietnam to perform in 2016 and 2019.
Recently, at the age of 72, she was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her contributions to music and charity.
The female singer born in 1952, considered the soul of Boney M, will come to Vietnam for the third time to perform within the framework of Dalat Spring Concert with the group's most famous hits, expected to revive the memories of the 6X, 7X and 8X generations of audiences with Daddy Cool, Rivers of Babylon and besides that are many classic Christmas songs.
Along with Boney M.Liz Mitchell, the famous band from Austria - Joy - with songs that many Vietnamese audiences know by heart Touch by Touch will also take place at Dalat Spring Concert.
Returning to Vietnam after 5 years, Joy brings vibrant but no less sweet, passionate and inspiring Disco melodies such as: Touch by Touch; Hey Hello; Valerie; I'm In love. Joy made their mark with the Pop and Disco genres. After 40 years of establishment, this band promises to bring audiences and fans an unforgettable experience at the concert.
Unlike Boney M and Joy, Dalat Spring Concert is a special event marking the first time the "Queen of Pop of the 1980s" - Samantha Fox - performed in Vietnam. The once-famous British sex symbol "conquered" the charts with famous HITs such as: Touch Me (I Want Your Body), Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now, Just One Night, Wanna Please Me, I Only Wanna Be With You.
The singer born in 1966, who used to be a model, left a deep impression on the audience's mind as an energetic, stylish and sexy singer on stage in the 1980s.
Her music career is as brilliant as her modeling career when the song Touch Me (I Want Your Body) quickly became a hit across Europe, North America, Australia and many other countries in 1986. Dalat Spring Concert is the first annual international music project in Da Lat following international format standards. The representative of the organizing committee, Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong said that the event will be held annually to spread the image of Da Lat as a Creative City in the field of music recognized by UNESCO and towards building Da Lat as a world-class music destination, concretizing Da Lat's commitment when joining the network of creative cities in the field of music of UNESCO.
“The program contributes to realizing the goal of turning Da Lat into an international destination, fulfilling the responsibility of a Creative City in the field of music, thereby spreading the cultural values, nature, and people of Da Lat, creating opportunities for tourism development, promoting the economy of Da Lat in particular and Lam Dong in general,” Mr. Hoai said.
