Boney M singer Liz Mitchell says Dalat will have a great night with Dalat Spring Concert

On December 20, Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Da Lat City People's Committee jointly held a press conference to provide information about the international music night Dalat Spring Concert.

The gathering featured popular 1970s and 1980s singers and bands such as Boney M, Liz Mitchell, Joy Band, and 1980s pop queen Samantha Fox.

Dalat will have a wonderful night

Ms. Tran Thi Vu Loan, Vice Chairwoman of Da Lat City People's Committee, said that the show is not only an opportunity for domestic and foreign audiences to enjoy top-notch music, but also an opportunity to promote the natural beauty, people and unique culture of the city of thousands of flowers, worthy of the title of Creative City in the field of music recognized by UNESCO.

Dalat Spring Concert 2024 is held completely free of charge, within the framework of the 10th Dalat Flower Festival and is expected to attract about 20,000 spectators at Lam Vien Square.

Appearing at the press conference, famous singer Samantha Fox expressed her happiness at being invited to perform in Vietnam for the first time.

She said this is the place she always wanted to go because looking at pictures of Vietnam, she imagined this place to be extremely beautiful and mysterious.

She shared that she was extremely excited and hoped that in the future she would soon be able to return many more times to sing for Vietnamese friends. She was excited to meet everyone, experience the culture as well as the wonderful architecture and cuisine of Vietnam.

"This time I came to Vietnam just to perform, so I'm planning to come back for longer vacations, hopefully next year. I promise to bring you a great show with songs you know from the 1980s to the present. See you soon, Vietnam," she said.

New song Vietnamese Girl released

Singer Liz Mitchell shared at the press conference: “We agreed to participate in the program at very short notice. One of the artists in the group had a problem with his passport but in the end he resolved it to be here. Oh, the difficulties are over, we believe the show will be successful.”

She added: “I don’t know why, what miracle brought me to Dalat Spring Concert. For 8 consecutive years I have been performing in Canada at this time. This year I planned to take a break but when my husband said we had to do this, to come to Vietnam, I changed my mind and I came to Vietnam.

Vietnam, I have been there 4 times. Each trip I have experienced many emotions and love and freedom. I have just been to Da Lat but I feel that the people of Da Lat are very free and loving. This is an extremely special city of Vietnam and Asia".

Singer Samantha Fox said: "I have performed in Asia many times, but this is the first time I have been to Da Lat - Vietnam. Oh, this city makes me wow. Da Lat is cold today, but we think we will make this city warmer tomorrow night (December 21)".

Joy Band representative, Michael Scheickl shared: "We have special impressions of Vietnam. Traffic is difficult for us because we are not used to it, but the food is delicious."

About the show, he said: "Of course we will perform the very familiar song in the old weddings Touch by touch . This time we will also debut the new song Vietnamese Girl - Vietnamese Girl ".

Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong, Chairman of IB Group Vietnam and Production Director of Dalat Spring Concert, said: "It took the organizers a whole month to find a keyboard that was produced more than 20 years ago, because only it can create the disco music that is familiar to millions of Boney M fans."

Dalat Spring Concert kicks off annual top music events

Mr. Pham S, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, said: "Dalat Spring Concert is expected to be held annually to spread the image of Da Lat as a Creative City in the field of music recognized by UNESCO and towards building Da Lat as a world music destination.

At the same time, "concretize Da Lat's commitment to joining the UNESCO network of creative cities in the field of music".

Ms. Pham Thi Vu Loan, Vice Chairwoman of Da Lat City People's Committee, said that Dalat Spring Concert will be the beginning of special international art events held annually in Da Lat.
