Promoting digital transformation in water resources planning, investigation and monitoring is one of the directions of Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Cong Thanh at the 50th Anniversary Ceremony and receiving the First Class Labor Medal of the Northern Water Resources Planning and Investigation Federation.
Appreciating the efforts and achievements of generations of leaders, officials and employees of the Northern Water Resources Planning and Investigation Federation over the past time, Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh said that, promoting the advantages of the key unit in geological and hydrogeological investigation, the Federation has constantly strived, strived and proactively completed excellently the tasks of investigation, exploration and search for underground water sources, monitoring the dynamics and assessing the reserves of water sources to serve the exploitation and water supply for many provinces and cities in the Northern region. In addition, the Federation has proactively advised and proposed to management agencies basic investigation tasks to serve socio-economic development according to the State's orientation.
To effectively implement the tasks, goals and targets set for the field of water resources planning and investigation, Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh requested the Northern Water Resources Planning and Investigation Federation to focus on synchronously implementing key tasks and solutions such as: Organizing consultation and proposing contents for effective implementation of the Law on Water Resources 2023; promoting international cooperation, digital transformation in planning, investigation and monitoring of water resources to create a database; perfecting the organizational apparatus to ensure streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency associated with building a team of responsible, professional, highly qualified cadres and civil servants with courage, breakthrough thinking, daring to do, daring to take responsibility.
Reviewing the 50-year journey of establishment and development, Mr. Nguyen Chi Nghia, Head of the Northern Water Resources Planning and Investigation Federation, emphasized that over the years, the Federation has performed its main functions and tasks of planning, basic investigation, monitoring and protecting water resources in the northern provinces (from Ha Giang province to the end of Hai Van pass, Thua Thien - Hue province); has organized and implemented many projects at the Government and ministerial levels...
Regarding water resources planning, the Federation participated in and completed the comprehensive water resources planning for the Red River-Thai Binh River basin; Bang Giang-Ky Cung River; Ma River; completed the water resources planning for the provinces of Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Thai Binh, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, etc.
The Federation also completed the Program of investigation and assessment of groundwater in highland areas and water-scarce areas for nearly 80 areas in 19 northern mountainous provinces and many river basins in the area of operation; completed many projects of investigation and assessment of groundwater in Chan May - Phu Loc areas, Thua Thien - Hue province, coastal areas, areas lacking fresh water... Finding valuable water sources were outstanding events in 2010 and 2017 of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The Federation always pays attention to investing in scientific and technological research, updating new technologies to serve the organization of planning, investigation, assessment, protection - development and monitoring of water resources. Up to now, the Federation has presided over the completion of 3 State-level projects, dozens of ministerial-level projects, many grassroots-level projects; compiled and published 2 monographs on groundwater, presided over and participated in compiling a series of legal documents.
In recognition of the contributions of the Federation's cadres and civil servants, the State has awarded the Federation many noble prizes; the Government, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have awarded many emulation flags to leading units and Certificates of Merit...
To successfully carry out all tasks and plans in the coming time, Mr. Nguyen Chi Nghia affirmed that the Federation will continue to innovate, improve scientific and technological capacity, diversify economic services, and create many true values for society, the country and the Federation's employees.
