The annual report “Digital 2025 Global Overview Report” published by We Are Social and Melwater in early March 2025 provides assessments of the Internet market and digital industry for each country, including Vietnam in 2024. Information from “Digital 2025 Global Overview Report” covers many areas of technology and telecommunications, from Internet usage rate, social network development speed, rankings of the world's top websites, etc.

The 100-page assessment table on the development of technology in Vietnam has provided statistics on rankings from platforms from websites to mobile phones.

In the category of most downloaded mobile applications (based on the number of mobile applications downloaded from September 1, 2024 to November 30, 2024), Zalo is the most downloaded application. Following Zalo are applications such as Mbbank, TikTok, Threads….

If calculated by the number of regular monthly users (data recorded from September 1, 2024 to November 30, 2024), Zalo ranked second on the chart, just behind the globally famous application Facebook. The fact that Zalo ranked second and surpassed many large transnational applications such as Youtube, Facebook Messenger, TikTok... affirms the technological mastery capacity of a Vietnamese unit as well as the level of interest of domestic users in a "Make in Vietnam" product.

Notably, not only in the ranking of mobile applications, Zalo.me is also in the top of the most visited websites (according to Similarweb ranking from September 1, 2024 to November 30, 2024). Data from the above ranking estimates that each month, the total number of visits to Zalo.me reaches 108 million, ranking 6th in Vietnam. The leading positions belong to the websites Google.com, Youtube.com, Facebook.com, Shopee.vn and Vnexpress.net.

At the Conference "Summary and evaluation of electronic information sector activities in 2024, orientation to 2025" held in November 2024, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Duc Long said that as of June 30, 2024, Vietnam has about 110 million social network accounts. Of which, Zalo has 76.5 million regular monthly users. The number of Facebook users in Vietnam is 72 million, YouTube is 63 million and Tiktok is 67 million users. Thus, up to now, the Zalo platform has more registered accounts than 3 cross-border platforms.

By the end of 2024, Zalo currently has nearly 78 million monthly active users and 2 billion messages exchanged daily.
