Meeting to discuss organizing the Vesak Buddha's Birthday Festival, Buddhist calendar 2569 - Gregorian calendar 2025.

Vesak is a sacred and important event held annually by monks, nuns and Buddhists around the world. Vesak commemorates three important events in the life of Buddha Shakyamuni: his birth, enlightenment and passing into nirvana. Vesak was established by the United Nations as a world cultural and religious festival for peace in 1999. Since then, Vesak has been held at the United Nations headquarters and in member countries every year.

This year's Vesak celebration took place in a joyful atmosphere commemorating the country's major holidays: the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification on April 30 (1975-2025); the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2 (1945-2025); along with the 4th time, the United Nations Vesak Festival was held in Vietnam with extremely important significance and stature.

According to Venerable Thich Nguyen Nguyet - Deputy Head of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, concurrently the Chief Secretary, the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will organize the Buddha's Birthday Festival of Buddhist calendar 2569 - solar calendar 2025 with many outstanding activities such as: Street decoration, lighting 7 lotus flowers on the Ca Ty River, traditional Buddha bathing ceremony, offering incense to commemorate Uncle Ho at the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan Branch, setting up the main altar at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square Theater, parade of flower cars, flower palanquins to welcome Buddha and performing Buddhist music and dance to welcome the United Nations Vesak Day...

At the meeting, delegates discussed, exchanged and agreed on the planned activities and organization plans to report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and support for the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to organize activities on the occasion of the Vesak Festival, Buddhist calendar 2569 - solar calendar 2025. Mr. Nguyen Minh Tan emphasized the requirement to ensure the Festival is thoughtful, solemn, safe and practical, especially in terms of organization, transportation, health care, etc. In addition, he also requested the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to continue to accompany the locality in social security programs, especially supporting the construction of houses for poor households and policy families, contributing to increasing the humanistic meaning of this year's Vesak Festival.
