For the third consecutive day, many boats from the mainland to Phu Quoc and Nam Du islands have been temporarily suspended, leaving more than 700 tourists stranded on Nam Du island. Meanwhile, thousands of tourists have left Phu Quoc thanks to the reopening of the Phu Quoc - Ha Tien route.
On July 15, the Kien Giang Maritime Port Authority announced that the ferry routes from Rach Gia to Phu Quoc, Nam Du and vice versa continued to be suspended for the third consecutive day due to bad weather. As for the Phu Quoc - Ha Tien route, all ferries and ships resumed operations that same morning.
On the morning of July 15, tourists can go to the mainland by train and ferry from Phu Quoc to Ha Tien.
According to information from the People's Committee of An Son commune, Kien Hai district (Kien Giang province), there are currently more than 700 tourists still stranded on Nam Du archipelago because there are no ships to the mainland.
To support tourists, many motels and hotels on the island proactively reduce room rates from 30% to 50% for tourists staying there. In addition, some motels also allow guests to use the kitchen and rice for free.

"From July 14, we reduced the room rate by 50% for all 40 guests stuck at our motel, and the next day we will reduce it further until the ship operates, only charging for electricity and water. In addition, guests can freely use the motel's rice and kitchen to cook without having to pay. Bad weather is something no one wants, so we support them to the best of our ability. Even though the guests are stuck, they are still happy," said Nguyen Khanh Hoa, owner of Chinh Hoa motel in An Son commune.
Meanwhile, in Phu Quoc City, the flooding has passed as there have been no more heavy rains. Life on the island has returned to normal as the Phu Quoc - Ha Tien ferry route has been reopened. Thousands of tourists who have been stranded on the island in recent days have also left the island to return home.
Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, Director of Kien Giang Department of Tourism, said that the Department of Tourism has sent a document to relevant units, requesting to increase reminders and ensure safety for tourists. Units with beaches and swimming pools must arrange lifeguards and put up signs at dangerous locations to ensure safety for tourists.
