Women's Union accompanies women in green transformation, enhancing economic empowerment

In the green growth trend, many female entrepreneurs in Ninh Binh have continuously learned, innovated and applied business transformation, aiming for sustainable "green" development in their business activities.

Go green with organic products

Outstanding among them is Ms. Trinh Thi Hoa with the idea of ​​"Developing sustainable green medicinal herbs" of Yen Son Medicinal Herbs Cooperative. This is the only idea representing Ninh Binh province to enter the regional final round of the "Women's Creative Startup and Green Transformation" Competition in 2024 organized by the Vietnam Women's Union.

Stemming from her passion for medicinal herbs, realizing that there were many pieces of land left to grow wild grass and low-value crops, Ms. Hoa researched and found out about easy-to-grow medicinal herbs, with the hope of improving the income and living standards of local women.

The development of digital transformation, fake drugs floating on the market, potentially causing diseases to the community. This is the motivation for her to make a really good product, effective in protecting, caring for, and improving the health of users at a not too high price.

Besides ensuring quality, environmental protection is also an important criterion that she always prioritizes with Yen Son Cooperative.

Because "Converting production towards "green" and organic orientation also protects the health of the people who directly work at the unit so they do not have to come into contact with chemicals", Ms. Hoa said.

In addition, developing organic medicinal herbs not only contributes to improving soil, increasing humus, protecting the living environment but also helps increase income for local people, improve quality of life and increase social security.

Accordingly, at Yen Son Cooperative, she has used innovative technology to treat production waste to avoid environmental pollution, improve soil and improve product quality with Japanese technology freeze dryers, which do not emit dust and gases... but still maintain the color, flavor and effectiveness of the product.

With her efforts in green transformation, the product of Golden Turmeric Starch (the key plant at Yen Son - Golden Turmeric Cooperative) has been rated 3-star OCOP and won the Gold Cup and the certificate of Golden Product for Vietnam Agriculture at the central level. In addition, her idea received positive feedback at the "Women's Creative Startup and Green Transformation" contest in 2024 when there was a combination and interaction between local people and households, joining hands to develop the economy, at the same time, contributing to the development and protection of the environment.

Similarly, recognize the strengths of the locality where you live (Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh) by   With a passion for farming and animal husbandry, Ms. Tran Thi Cuc, owner of Cuong Cuc Business , decided to use local green and clean foods to start a business with organic mushroom and sausage products.

Like many other stories, Ms. Cuc's entrepreneurial journey was not paved with roses. The most memorable period was the period of half a year when the products were spoiled because she could not find a suitable preservation method. Because , Cuong Cuc's business always says "no" to preservatives, borax and additives to ensure the quality of green and clean products.

Women's Union accompanies women in starting a business

Looking back at the startup process, Ms. Hoa said that starting a business has never been easy, especially in the context of green transformation.

"To achieve the current results, besides the efforts to find organic production solutions, the cooperation of local women in producing medicinal herbs and protecting the environment, the support of the local Women's Union plays an important role in my startup journey," Ms. Hoa shared.

She said that the local Women's Union has always supported, trained, transferred technology, and created conditions for visiting advanced models. From there, it helps women have basic knowledge about technology application and digital transformation, supports capital to purchase technological equipment and machinery for production; has close direction and specific instructions for economic development projects, how to implement them in the fastest and most effective way such as: consulting on crop techniques, care, consulting on technology transfer...

For Ms. Cuc, the Association not only supports her in business orientation but also helps her products have the opportunity to spread more widely.

"They tried it and found it delicious, "marketed" and spread the product for me, often asked about my difficulties and encouraged me a lot on my entrepreneurial journey," Ms. Cuc shared.

Up to now, after more than 10 years, the mushroom-sausage product has achieved certain successes: achieving 3-star OCOP certification, Gold Cup and Gold Product certification for Vietnamese agriculture.

Ms. Cuc said that to achieve these achievements, it is indispensable to have the support of women from all levels of the Women's Union, creating the premise for business households to develop such as: supporting successful registration of traceability stamps, business development orientation, and at the same time being a great source of encouragement to help her overcome her comfort zone to start a successful business.

In addition, the Women's Union always creates learning opportunities and supports Ms. Cuc and other women to participate in fairs, seminars, and events on agricultural products to create opportunities for women entrepreneurs to access larger markets and spread their products.

Ms. Trinh Thi Hoa and Tran Thi Cuc are two of the women in the province who have always strived to overcome difficulties and barriers, determined with their goals and entrepreneurial journey to research organic products that are good for health and the environment, in line with the green transformation orientation.

In those startup stories, the companionship of the Women's Union at all levels in Ninh Binh province is indispensable, always closely following the lives of local women through training and propaganda classes.

Ninh Binh Women's Union organizes training sessions, courses,... to support women in improving their economic empowerment.

In particular, to support women in improving their economic power, the Association has organized competitions on applying information technology in Association activities, training on writing skills, topics, startup ideas, and starting a business for 100 people who are enterprises/cooperatives/cooperative groups/business households owned or managed by women, women who want to start a business, start a business...

These activities aim to help women gain knowledge and skills in their business activities. In addition, the Association also organized an online training course "Vietnamese Women Confidently Doing Business" for more than 300 female members. All of these contributed to creating a foundation and promoting confidence for women to participate in the 2024 Women's Startup Competition organized by the Central Association.
