The STEAM education festival was organized by the Department of Education and Training of Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City at Tran Huy Lieu Secondary School on May 23, with the participation of more than 1,000 students and teachers of all levels in the district.
Not only are there games for primary and secondary school students to experience, the festival also introduces more than 30 STEAM educational products.
These are products designed by teachers from kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools in Phu Nhuan to teach STEAM to students. In addition, there are also scientific and technical products researched and implemented by students.

Among them, the mathematical scale model designed by a group of teachers from grade 1, Cao Ba Quat Primary School, attracted attention at the festival. In the weights are mathematical numbers that teachers used sand to represent quantity.
For example, number 1 will use about 50 grams of sand, number 2 is 100 grams of sand... and so on until number 10 will be 500 grams. This way, it is easiest for children to visualize the numbers.
Ms. Tran Kim Thuy - teacher at Cao Ba Quat Primary School - said the model was designed by grade 1 teachers to help grade 1 students have fun learning math and learn more easily.
The model has been introduced into teaching by teachers, students are very active when learning math, no longer bored in class.

"In the 2018 General Education Program, first graders will learn math problems about separating and combining numbers. When learning about separating and combining numbers, students will have a harder time visualizing. However, with the mathematical scale model, the numbers are very clearly quantified, students can easily visualize problems about addition, subtraction, separating and combining..." - Ms. Thuy shared.
In particular, preschool teachers surprised many people when introducing STEM teaching models to children through games in math lessons, recognizing the world around them... quite interesting and attractive.
Besides, the STEAM-Robotics competition is the most exciting and thrilling area of the festival, attracting many primary and secondary school students to participate.
