Students nationwide will take the 2025 high school graduation mock exam

At a recent training conference on regulations and procedures for organizing the 2025 high school graduation exam, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong requested schools to do a good job of organizing teaching and exam review.

He believes that to do well in exams, one must teach and learn well. This preparation starts from the beginning of the school year until the exam preparation. Schools must teach on time and innovate their methods.

“If teachers teach well every day, every semester, and all year, the exam will no longer be stressful,” Mr. Thuong said and suggested that the Department of Education and Training of 63 provinces and cities organize a trial exam for 100% of students because this year is the first time the 2018 General Education Program is being tested. The spirit of organizing a trial exam is to operate it for real, evaluate it for real, do real tests, and use the trial exam results to classify students, on the basis of continuing to supplement knowledge. The trial exam also helps teachers get used to this year's new exam organization method.

It is expected that more than 1.1 million candidates will take the graduation exam this year, an increase of 40,000 students compared to last year. All 100% of candidates will use their identification code information on VNeID to register online, without having to provide other documents. Candidates can register for the exam from April 21 to 28 (before that, there are 4 days for trial registration).

In 2025, there will be only 3 graduation exams (last year, 4). The exam questions will be based on competency assessment, with new subjects according to the 2018 General Education Program. Literature can use materials other than textbooks. The Ministry of Education and Training will increase the use of process assessment results in considering high school graduation recognition, from 30% to 50%. Changes in certificates and incentive points for Foreign Languages, Vietnamese, and vocational certificates.

Mr. Thuong also said that in 2026, the high school graduation exam will be held earlier, right after completing the program, so that students' exam preparation time will not be prolonged.
