After the success of AFC 21, the organizers decided to continue bringing this MMA tournament back to Vietnam with the AFC 23 event on the evening of March 10 with 8 attractive matches. In which, the highlight will be the competition between Vietnamese representative Hoang Nam Thang and Korean professional boxer Oh Su Hwan.
Oh Su Hwan is 26 years old this year, highly appreciated in terms of experience and physique with a height of 1m75, 5cm taller than Nam Thang. The Korean boxer is considered a master of wrestling and grappling techniques with many years of MMA (freestyle martial arts) training.

Facing a very strong opponent, the Vietnamese boxer took the initiative to defend himself, waiting for a chance to counterattack. However, in the first round, Nam Thang received a very strong blow from his opponent. He fell to the floor and was injured afterwards.
Despite receiving medical attention, Nam Thang was unable to continue the match. Oh Su Hwan was declared the winner in less than a minute. The Vietnamese boxer left the ring on a stretcher and was taken to the hospital.

The famous international mixed martial arts tournament Angel's Fighting Championship (AFC) held in Vietnam has 8 matches, including 6 men's matches and 2 women's matches, bringing together the top names in the regional and international martial arts arena. Besides the match between Nam Thang and Oh Su Hwan, the AFC 23 event left a strong impression with many exciting matches.
The match between Pablo Eduardo (Brazil) and Norov Azizbek (Uzbekistan) attracted attention. Right after the opening signal, Pablo Eduardo rushed in and launched two consecutive kicks. Norov Azizbek was lightning quick to grab Eduardo's leg and knock his opponent to the floor.
However, as soon as he fell to the floor, Pablo Eduardo turned around quickly and launched an extremely vicious leg-breaking punch that forced Norov Azizbek to surrender after only a few seconds of the match. The Uzbek then took a long time to get up after being cared for by doctors.
Korean female boxer Park Si Yoon (25 years old) also left a strong impression with a knockout victory over her opponent Harma Yesti (Indonesia) who was 6 years older than her. Park Si Yoon was more proactive, forcing Harma Yesti close to the cage and then knocking her opponent to the floor. Park Si Yoon gained the advantage when she circled behind her opponent and performed an impressive choke, forcing Harma Yesti to admit defeat after just over 2 minutes of the match.

17-year-old Korean martial artist Cho Joon Gun showed off his excellent grappling skills against Brazilian jiu-jitsu master Robson Oliveira. Despite dominating the match with his superior grappling skills for most of the match, Oliveira was also hit with several sharp counterattacks using Cho Joon Gun's signature Karate moves.
The turning point of the match came in the middle of the second round, after many defensive efforts, Cho Joon Gun suddenly escaped Oliveira's pressure and threw many effective punches to the face, making the Brazilian fighter dizzy.
However, at this moment, Oliveira with his extensive experience took advantage of Cho Joon Gun's weakness to knock his opponent to the floor before launching a dangerous arm twist to win by surprising knockout with more than 2 minutes left in round 2.

Kim Igor (Russia) won by points over Sony Rizaldi (Indonesia). Nabilla SP Firdaus (Indonesia) won by points over Jeong Cha Hyun (Korea) and Song Hyeon Jong (Korea) won by points over Pelipe Negochadle (Brazil).
AFC is a professional MMA tournament held periodically in Korea, gathering many quality international fighters to compete. AFC applies a very different competition format, helping to optimize the advantages for fighters specializing in grappling and limiting the attacks of fighters standing (Striking). This is quite new to Vietnamese fighters who are familiar with the formats of previous MMA tournaments.
