On the evening of October 31, Y Nhi appeared at the international terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport. Miss World Vietnam 2023 was seen off by her family and boyfriend before entering customs alone.
Tien Phong 's source said that the reigning Miss World Vietnam is studying abroad.
Contacting the International University - Ho Chi Minh City National University - the school where Y Nhi studied in the past, Master Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Head of the school's Communications Department, confirmed to Tien Phong that Y Nhi studied in Australia for 2 years.

“It's no wonder students don't see Y Nhi.”
Sharing with Tien Phong, Master Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc said that studying abroad in Australia for 2 years is part of Y Nhi's study plan.
“Student Huynh Tran Y Nhi studied the 2+2 joint program in Business Administration between the International University of VNU-HCM and the University of Sydney in Australia. She completed the program in Vietnam and transferred to the partner school in Australia to continue the program she registered for from the beginning.
The fact that Y Nhi completed phase 1 (studying at the International University) and successfully transferred to the partner school in phase 2 (studying at the University of Sydney, Australia) is all in the plan and curriculum of student Y Nhi at the school", Master Bich Ngoc replied.
A representative of the International University said that when participating in Miss World Vietnam 2023, Y Nhi had completed the first phase of the program in Vietnam, with only a few final exams left.
She strictly followed the school's regulations on temporary absence during the exam period, requesting to reserve all subjects, and after competing in Miss World Vietnam 2023, she will return to school for the final exam. During that time, Y Nhi was supported by the school.
Y Nhi returned to complete her studies at the International University, before applying for a scholarship in Australia.
“International University always considers students as the center of training activities, so the school is ready to support students when they need help. Y Nhi also fully complies with the final exam application process for subjects that are absent.
When the school approved her return to school, in a very short time, Y Nhi completed the subjects that she was missing points for according to the school's exam schedule. After completing the exam scores, Y Nhi submitted her application to move to phase 2 - studying at the partner school on schedule ," said a school representative.
When asked about how Y Nhi completed her first phase of studies because students did not see her in class, the school representative said this was not unusual.
“Part of the International University is a credit-based training system, so classmates may not study all the subjects together. In addition, at this time, Y Nhi has finished all the subjects, only goes to the exam room according to the exam schedule arranged by the school and contacts the units to complete the documents to transfer the study phase. Therefore, Nhi rarely contacts and meets with other students ,” Master Bich Ngoc explained.
Which school does Y Nhi attend in Australia?
According to information from the International University, Y Nhi completed her period in Vietnam with an average score in the group of good and excellent students and had a good profile, actively participated in movement activities, and participated in the school's clubs and teams.
“That helped Ý Nhi receive a 20% scholarship (equivalent to 20,000 AUD, about more than 310,000,000 VND) of tuition fees for phase 2 from the partner school, the University of Sydney. This is one of the honors for students studying the joint program when transferring,” said a school representative.
The Head of Communications at the International University said that in the beginning, when she came to the partner school, Y Nhi could not avoid the common difficulties that international students face. However, both the International University and the University of Sydney have programs to support students during their studies and living (not only Y Nhi, but all students receive this support).
Y Nhi studied abroad for 2 years at the University of Sydney, Australia.
When asked about the scale and reputation of the school where Ý Nhi studied in Australia for two years, the school representative said: “The University of Sydney is ranked 19th in the world and second in Australia, according to the QS Rankings 2024. The University of Sydney is also a member of the Group of Eight - an alliance of the 8 most prestigious universities in Australia,” said Master Bich Ngoc.
The school representative said that Y Nhi studied abroad for 2 years in Australia, majoring in Business Administration. “With this major, in addition to the knowledge learned from professors in the classroom, Y Nhi was trained in other skills such as leadership in Business Administration, planning, time management, problem solving, teamwork, communication, critical thinking…”, the school representative added.
“However, Nhi's English when entering school was not good enough to enter the major program, so she was placed in the intensive English program in the first semester.
At International University, the intensive English program is for all students who are not qualified to study their major in 100% English (there are 3 levels from low to high, depending on the results of your English placement test).
After a period of trying, Y Nhi kept up with her friends' study progress, her grades were in the good to excellent student group, her English also improved, enough to transfer to phase 2 to Sydney University.
That is also the reason why Y Nhi received a scholarship from the University of Sydney when entering phase 2 in Australia," the school representative replied when asked about Y Nhi's foreign language proficiency.
Huynh Tran Y Nhi was born in 2002, from Binh Dinh. She was crowned Miss World Vietnam 2023 in July. During the final night, she unexpectedly announced her boyfriend. Responding to Tien Phong after the coronation, Y Nhi said she focused on completing her studies. Her boyfriend supported her in the beauty pageant and understood and shared that with her.
During the process of participating in answering the media after the coronation, Y Nhi had an incident with a statement that was considered tactless by the online community and an anti-group with more than 600,000 members was created.
Despite her apology, Y Nhi still received no backlash. She barely appeared on social media, staying hidden to focus on her studies.
On the evening of October 31, after three months of hiding, she appeared at the airport to study abroad in Australia. On November 1, a representative of the International University confirmed to Tien Phong that the above information was correct.
