The 9th Division is stationed in an area with poor soil, a long dry season, and limited water sources, making it difficult to care for plants and flowers. However, in such conditions, only the bougainvillea, which is drought-resistant, can still grow well and flower all year round. The red, pink, orange, purple, white... colors of this flower make the unit's space more vibrant and lively.
To blend the colors of bougainvillea into one tree, increase the aesthetics and create a highlight for the unit's landscape, the youth of Regiment 2, Division 9 built and launched the model of "combining five-color bougainvillea". From the success of Regiment 2, in a short time, the model has become an attractive movement, attracting all agencies and units in the entire Division to respond and implement and achieve practical results.

According to Colonel Pham Van Hong, Deputy Political Commissar of Division 9, the unit has selected skilled and experienced soldiers to directly instruct young soldiers on grafting techniques, post-grafting care, pruning, editing, and shaping. The unit encourages soldiers to perform flower grafting techniques early in the morning, when the sun has just risen; the grafting operation must be quick, neat, without scratches and avoid prolonging, causing the tree to lose water, leading to a low success rate. With skillful, meticulous and diligent hands, the unit's soldiers have successfully grafted hundreds of five-color bougainvillea trees, creating a unique landscape of Division 9. For the trees to grow well and bloom brilliantly, Captain Nguyen Van Be Ngan, Deputy Political Commissar of Battalion 5, Regiment 2, Division 9, shared the secret: "After the tree has flowered, it needs to be watered a lot, twice a day, and the flowers will bloom brilliantly."
In addition to the effectively implemented “Five-color paper flowers” model, Division 9 also promotes the cultivation of traditional plants such as: Hong Loc, Golden Bell, Marigold, Sunflower... creating a fresh, harmonious and eye-catching landscape. This helps officers and soldiers reduce stress and hardship after training and studying, love and attach more to the unit, and enthusiastically compete to complete all assigned tasks.
