On October 12, Dong Thap Club officially held a departure ceremony, determined to compete well in the first division. In the 2024-2025 season, Dong Thap Club continues to receive the support of Van Hien University as the main sponsor. Notably, the agreement between the two parties lasts until 2030.
At the same time, many businesses such as Hung Hau Food Joint Stock Company (with brands HAPPYFOOD, OCHAO), Binh Minh Saigon College, and the clothing sponsor - Bao Uyen Sport Company Limited (brand BulBal Vietnam) also accompanied Dong Thap Club.

In the 2023-2024 first division season, Dong Thap Club did not perform really impressively. Coach Phan Thanh Binh's team only finished second to last with 23 points. Therefore, the lotus land team has reorganized its force in the new season. In particular, the team's most prominent striker, Nguyen Cong Thanh, decided to leave Dong Thap Club after nearly 10 years of association. In addition, many players who did not meet expectations were given the opportunity to leave.
On the other hand, Dong Thap Club also welcomed many new outstanding faces. On the attack line, Dong Thap Club brought in two notable strikers, Phan Tan Tai and Tran Thanh. Tan Tai was one of the players who played for Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club last season, helping the team finish in 3rd place. The other face is Tran Thanh - a player who received a lot of expectations when he played for the U.17, U.19 and U.20 Vietnam teams. Although he can no longer maintain his peak form, Tran Thanh is still considered worth watching because he possesses good personal technique and the ability to seize opportunities.

In the midfield, Dong Thap Club successfully recruited overseas Vietnamese midfielder Le Trung Vinh from HAGL Club. The player born in 2003 was trained at Barcelona Residency Academy (USA) and he just won the 2024 National U.21 Championship with the mountain town youth team. In the defense, Dong Thap Club has 3 new players: Dao Tan Loc (Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club), Bui Ngoc Thinh (Dong Nai) and Tran Tien Dat (Binh Duong Club).
According to the assessment of the Dong Thap Club's leadership, despite adding many quality players, coach Phan Thanh Binh and his team will face many difficulties in the new season. In particular, teams such as Phu Dong Ninh Binh and Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc show their ambition to be promoted by bringing in many stars.
The national first division is expected to start in October 2024. In the first match, Dong Thap Club will play away at Hue Club (October 26). However, before entering this match, coach Phan Thanh Binh and his team will play at home in Cao Lanh, facing Dong Nai Club in the first round of the National Cup (October 19).
