While working on a construction project in 1970 in Varna, Bulgaria, workers accidentally discovered some gold artifacts that they suspected belonged to an ancient civilization. Thinking that this could be an important archaeological site, they quickly notified the authorities, who sent experts to investigate.

After receiving the news, archaeologists went to the scene and checked, thereby confirming that the artifacts accidentally found by the workers were indeed valuable antiques. Therefore, they conducted a large-scale excavation and discovered that the artifacts belonged to a large mausoleum complex.

Over the next 10 years, the team of experts discovered more than 300 tombs and systematically classified them. Each tomb was numbered, and detailed records were kept of the excavation process and the artifacts found.

The common point of these ancient tombs is the gold artifacts. While some tombs only have a few gold artifacts, there are also ancient tombs with hundreds of precious gold artifacts. In total, they found more than 3,000 gold artifacts including bracelets, necklaces, beads... in this ancient tomb complex.

Dating results showed that the gold artifacts were about 6,000 years old. From this, the research team deduced that these tombs were built between 4569 BC and 4340 BC.

At that time, humans were in the process of transition from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age. The discovery of exquisite gold artifacts shows that human goldsmithing techniques at that time were extremely advanced.

Furthermore, this discovery shows that the civilization that existed in Varna about 6,000 years ago was capable of smelting copper and gold at almost the same time.

The people buried with the gold artifacts are likely to have belonged to people of high social status, even supreme leaders. This shows that humans have been divided into classes and social statuses that may have existed more than 6,000 years ago.
