Previously, on January 18, the hospital received patient NHK (16 years old, residing in Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam) in a state of difficulty breathing, complex injuries to the head, face, neck, chest, arms and blind eyes, also caused by setting off firecrackers.

Doctor Ngo Hanh, Deputy Head of the Department of Orthopedic Trauma Surgery at Da Nang Hospital, who participated in emergency surgery for patients seriously injured by firecrackers, said that every year near Tet, many patients are hospitalized with severe injuries, affecting their lives and health, many cases have to suffer lifelong disabilities. In cases related to homemade firecrackers, victims often suffer multiple organ damage. The patient's hands are often crushed, and due to the pressure from the firecrackers, the lungs will be crushed and damaged. In particular, the cornea can be burned, the eyes damaged, and toxic gas can enter the lungs, causing lung damage.

“We recommend that parents should also pay attention to their children. Schools should also have warning sessions to prevent children from trying to make dangerous fireworks. When a fire or explosion occurs, the injuries they will suffer will be very serious,” Dr. Ngo Hanh advised.

To provide emergency care, treat patients and promptly handle situations that arise during the Lunar New Year, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, Deputy Director of Da Nang Hospital, said that for the Tet holiday, the unit is divided into 4 levels: leadership duty, hotline information handling; professional duty; administrative - logistics duty and security - self-defense duty.

In particular, the unit has prepared mobile teams to respond to disasters, mass accidents, and incidents that occur during this time. For patients injured by firecrackers, the hospital has provided detailed reports to the Department of Health, the Police, and the People's Committee of Da Nang City for appropriate handling.
