Fishermen of Binh Dinh fishing boat in distress at sea were brought safely ashore.

Previously, at 4:20 a.m. on November 20, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Center) received information from the Binh Dinh Provincial Border Guard Command that at about 2 a.m. on the same day, fishing boat BD 98268 TS while fishing in the area with coordinates 10⁰ 53'N; 110⁰ 32'E (about 95 nautical miles East Northeast of Phu Quy Island) was submerged, with 14 crew members on board, the weather in the area was very bad with Northeast wind level 6, gusting to level 7-8, waves over 3m high. The ship owner requested urgent rescue.

Under the timely direction of the authorities, the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center activated the search and rescue plan and ordered the specialized ship SAR 413 to be on standby in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to be ready to carry out the mission.

Through checking the system for tracking vessels operating at sea, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center directly contacted and mobilized foreign vessels traveling through the area of the ship in distress, including the ships: HONGRUN 76 (Chinese nationality), EUROSKY (Liberian nationality); BARZAN (German nationality) to participate in the search and rescue coordination work.

Coast Guard ship receives 14 fishermen in distress.

Immediately after receiving the request from the Center, the BARZAN ship organized a search and rescue operation. At 12:20 on November 20, the BARZAN ship announced that it had discovered and rescued all 14 fishermen of the BD 98268 TS ship safely onto the ship.

However, due to very bad weather conditions at sea with waves over 3m high, transferring people at sea to ship CSB 6007 was not safe, the Center instructed the captain of ship BARZAN to travel to Vung Tau to hand over to the authorities in Vung Tau.

The National Committee for Natural Disaster Response and Search and Rescue dispatched the Coast Guard ship CSB 4034 to receive the 14 fishermen. At 6:45 a.m. on November 21, the CSB 4034 ship approached the BARZAN ship and received the 14 fishermen, bringing them ashore and docking at the Coast Guard Region 3 Command at 10:00 a.m. the same day.
