After a period of working in the flower growing profession, Mr. Nguyen Truong An (born in 1985, Hop Giap village, Xuan Yen commune, Nghi Xuan) boldly invested nearly 1 billion VND to grow lilies. In September 2023, he rented nearly 1,200 ^m2 of rice land from households in the village and focused on renovating and building greenhouses; invested 500 million VND to buy 50,000 lily roots for cultivation.

Mr. An shared: " Lilies are popular for display during holidays and Tet. This is a flower that brings high economic value. Previously, I only planted 5,000 - 7,000 plants/season in my family's garden, but in 2023 I decided to expand the scale."

After more than 3 months of care, his lily garden is lush and green. The newly budding lilies promise to bloom in the upcoming Tet holiday.

According to Mr. An, the process of having a lily blooming in time for Tet requires the grower to understand and master the technical process from selecting the seed bulbs, germination treatment... Especially adjusting the care regimen, effectively preventing root rot and leaf burn...

Weather is the deciding factor in whether or not lily cultivation is successful or not. Therefore, you must regularly visit the garden. When the plants are likely to bloom early, adjust the fertilizer, reduce soil moisture or add potassium fertilizer to plants that show signs of blooming late...

His garden of 50,000 lilies is expected to bloom on December 22-25. Flowers planted directly in the garden soil will stay fresh for a long time, suitable for families to display during Tet.

These days, Mr. An’s lily garden is bustling with visitors. Many traders have contacted us to place orders. “ We are very excited because we have received a deposit from a trader in Hai Phong to buy 14,000 lily plants and some customers in the province have ordered 100-200 pots (5 plants per pot) for retail sale, ” said Mr. An.

This year, the average price of each lily is 40,000 - 45,000 VND. It is expected that Mr. An's lily garden will earn more than 2 billion VND during Tet. His model also creates regular jobs for 2 workers and 15 seasonal workers.

In addition to lilies, Mr. Nguyen Truong An also grows many other types of flowers that are popular in the market such as: gladiolus, cymbidium, yellow chrysanthemum, camellia... promising an income of more than 200 million VND.
