According to CNN , the reason why 2,500 pandas don't scare tourists away is because they are made from recycled rubber, resin and many other materials. They appeared at the airport as part of the PANDA GO! FEST HK event series - Hong Kong's largest panda-themed exhibition. Photo: AP.

By the end of this week, the pandas will be moved to the Tsim Sha Tsui Avenue of Fame in Hong Kong’s popular shopping district, Tsim Sha Tsui, before being displayed in three other locations in December 2024. Photo: AP.

According to AP , these pandas were inspired by six pandas being cared for at Hong Kong's Ocean Park, including the panda couple Ying Ying - Le Le who arrived in Hong Kong in 2007, the twin pandas who are the children of Ying Ying - Le Le, and the panda couple An An - Ke Ke who arrived in Hong Kong in September. SCMP reported that on August 15, Ying Ying gave birth to twins, one male and one female. Notably, Ying Ying gave birth just one day before her 19th birthday - equivalent to about 57 years old in humans - and became the world's oldest panda mother. Photo: SCMP

Hong Kong hopes that raising six pandas will boost tourism and help it regain its status as one of Asia's top tourist destinations, despite the cost of caring for pandas in captivity. Photo: AP.
