Hai Phong spends nearly 1.4 billion VND to reward outstanding students

(Dan Tri) - The Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee awarded certificates of merit and spent 1.39 billion VND from the local budget to reward 139 outstanding students of the 2023-2024 school year.

On the evening of November 9, at the historical site of Cultural Celebrity Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem (Ly Hoc commune, Vinh Bao, Hai Phong), the People's Committee of Hai Phong City held a ceremony to honor outstanding and exemplary students in 2024.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Tien Chau, Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Central Youth Union; Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee and hundreds of students.

At the ceremony, Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, said that for generations, Hai Phong has been a land with a tradition of studiousness and good learning. That tradition has been preserved and promoted by generations of people.

Over the years, the city has had many policies to develop education. These include policies to commend and reward excellent students and teachers, invest in facilities, support tuition fees, and improve teaching quality.

Despite many difficulties and challenges in the 2023-2024 school year, Hai Phong's education sector still maintains its top position among provinces and cities in training and fostering.

Of these, 98 students won national excellent student awards at high school level, ranked 3rd nationwide; 2 won first prizes in national science and technology competitions and were selected to participate in international competitions.

In particular, in international and regional Olympic competitions, Hai Phong had 4 students participating and winning 5 medals: 1 gold medal in Biology Olympic, 1 silver medal in Physics Olympic; 1 bronze medal in Mathematics Olympic; 1 bronze medal in Asian Physics Olympic and 1 silver medal in Asian Informatics Olympic.

In the high school graduation exam, Hai Phong ranked 6th in the country in terms of average exam score, with 1 candidate achieving national valedictorian status in group B; the graduation rate reached 99.66%, the rate of students passing university entrance exams reached 62%.

Students from universities in Hai Phong and students from Hai Phong at universities and colleges across the country graduate at a high rate, with many students being valedictorians and salutatorians.

Mr. Le Khac Nam emphasized that these are proud achievements, affirming the tradition of studiousness and good study of Hai Phong people.

At the same time, it shows that the city is investing in training excellent students in a systematic and correct way, with widespread influence among students in the city.

On behalf of the city's leaders, Mr. Le Khac Nam praised the education and training sector, teachers, and especially welcomed 139 outstanding students.

Mr. Le Khac Nam shared that the results that the students have achieved are just the starting point of a journey of striving to establish themselves and their careers. He expressed his hope that the students will continue to strive, practice, study, research, and take the lead in accessing and applying the world's advanced scientific and technological achievements to become positive factors, contributing to the prosperous development of the city and the country.

At the same time, it is recommended that sectors, levels, socio-economic organizations, enterprises, and the city have policies to treat, attract and employ talented people, creating a good environment for talented people to have conditions to contribute.
