Education sector responds to "Month of action for food safety" in 2025

NDO - Responding to the "Month of action for food safety" in 2025, the education sector has strengthened propaganda and education activities for learners, teachers, managers and food processing staff in collective kitchens and school canteens on choosing healthy and safe foods.

The Ministry of Education and Training issued Document No. 1426/BGDĐT-HSSV to the Departments of Education and Training, universities, and vocational training institutions on the implementation of the "Month of action for food safety" in 2025.

Specifically, the Ministry of Education and Training requires the Departments of Education and Training and educational institutions to proactively coordinate with the health sector and relevant local agencies to implement the "Month of action for food safety" in 2025 from April 15, 2025 to May 15, 2025 with the theme: "Ensuring food safety, focusing on food safety in collective kitchens, catering services and street food".

Units need to strengthen propaganda and education for students, teachers, managers and food processing staff in collective kitchens and school canteens on choosing healthy foods and ensuring food safety; practice personal hygiene to prevent food contamination and foodborne diseases; vigorously implement school hygiene activities to prevent and combat infectious diseases, proactively control and prevent epidemics from spreading in schools.

Educational institutions that organize boarding meals, canteens and other food services in schools must ensure requirements on disease prevention and control and food safety conditions, effectively implement the Ministry of Education and Training's guidelines on organizing school meals to ensure proper nutrition combined with increased physical activity for children and students; proactively develop plans, closely coordinate between schools, families and local authorities to prepare response plans and handle situations that arise when food poisoning occurs in schools.

The Ministry of Education and Training will strengthen coordination in the inspection and examination of the education-health sectors, mobilize the participation of the school's Parents' Representative Board in monitoring hygiene, food safety and the quality of boarding meals to promptly detect and handle violations in educational institutions.
