On the evening of October 26, a representative of the People's Committee of Long Hai commune, Phu Quy district confirmed that the SUP boat capsized, causing 6 tourists to sink into the sea, and 2 people are still missing.
Before that, at around 6:10 p.m. the same day, a group of 6 guests went to the beach in Long Hai commune to swim and used 2 sup boats to row.
When about 200 meters from shore, the boat capsized due to large waves, all 6 tourists fell into the sea.

Initially, locals and tourists used boats to bring the three victims to shore and continued searching for the remaining people.
At 10 p.m., Long Hai Commune People's Committee confirmed that authorities and local people had rescued one more tourist, and two people are still missing.
Authorities in Phu Quy have mobilized many boats, canoes, fishing boats and fishermen to expand the search area.
The group of 6 tourists arrived in Phu Quy island district 4 days ago and registered to stay at a homestay in the area. At noon on October 26, the group moved to stay at Villa W. (Quy Hai village, Long Hai commune).
The area where the tourists had an accident is an area where SUP boats are not allowed to operate. The weather in the area has strong northeast winds of level 5, 6; waves are 1.5 - 2m high.
