Hanoi is the world's best culinary destination

Hanoi ranked first in the 2024 Culinary Destinations ranking voted by TripAdvisor users.

Travelers' Choice Best of the Best is a prestigious annual award given based on reviews and opinions from the travel community over a 12-month period.

In the category of Best Culinary Destination, the capital Hanoi was honored in the highest order. Following Hanoi were the capital Rome (Italy), Crete (Greece), and Cusco (Peru).

Thailand's Phuket ranked 10th, Chiang Mai ranked 17th and Japan's Kyoto ranked 22nd.

Last year, Hanoi's dishes were loved and highly rated by tourists.

Some of the top dining addresses in Hanoi recommended by TripAdvisor users include Huong Lien vermicelli with grilled pork, Giang coffee, Thang Long grilled fish, Trang Tien ice cream, Ly Quoc Su pho, Bach Phuong Southern beef noodle soup, and 25 bread.

These are all famous restaurants not only with locals but also with domestic and international guests.

In 2023, the Michelin Guide came to Vietnam for the first time and announced a list of 103 recommended restaurants: Michelin Selected (70 restaurants), affordable Bib Gourmand restaurants (29 restaurants) and the first 4 restaurants in Vietnam to be awarded a Michelin star: Hibana by Koki, Tam Vi, Gia Restaurant (Hanoi) and Anan Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City.

Up to 3 restaurants in Hanoi received this honor, showing the development of the capital's cuisine. After the Michelin Guide came to Hanoi, Hanoi's dishes became more widely known. Many restaurants witnessed a sharp increase in the number of customers every day, such as the Nguyet chicken pho restaurant on Phu Doan street, selling 800 bowls every day.

Hanoi Department of Tourism said that in 2023, Hanoi Capital witnessed a significant leap in the tourism sector, welcoming 24 million visitors, an increase of 27% compared to 2022 (an increase of 9.1% compared to the plan, equivalent to 83% of the results in 2019).

Promoting cuisine is considered one of the factors attracting more and more tourists to the capital Hanoi.

Also in TripAdvisor 's Best of the Best Awards voted by travelers, Hanoi ranked 4th in the top 25 destinations in the world in 2023. Hoi An ranked 10th, Bali ranked 2nd, Bangkok ranked 15th and Phuket ranked 8th. In addition, Hoi An also ranked 2nd in the list of ideal honeymoon destinations, just after Bali (Indonesia).
