Restore and open new international flight routes to Asia

(NLDO) - Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have just simultaneously announced the resumption of connections and the opening of international flights to many Asian cities.

On April 2, Vietnam Airlines announced the simultaneous resumption of three routes between Vietnam and Hong Kong (China), Bangkok (Thailand) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

Specifically, on April 1, Vietnam Airlines officially resumed direct flights from Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur with a frequency of 3 flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Currently, the airline is operating 7 flights per week on the Ho Chi Minh City - Kuala Lumpur route. Previously, from March 30, the airline reconnected the two destinations of Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong with a frequency of 1 flight per day, bringing the total number of round-trip flights from Vietnam to Asia's leading destination to 14 flights per week.

Also on March 30, Vietnam Airlines reopened the Da Nang - Bangkok route with a frequency of 4 flights/week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. By resuming this route, the airline connects 3 major cities in Vietnam: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang to Bangkok, with a total of 60 flights/week.

The resumption of the above three routes and the opening of a new route from Ho Chi Minh City to Beijing via Daxing Airport from March 30 are part of Vietnam Airlines’ plan to expand its international flight network. The airline will open new and restore 15 international routes to countries such as Russia, Italy, Denmark, the Middle East, China, etc.

In 2024, taking advantage of the strong recovery of the international market, Vietnam Airlines resumed most international routes and opened many new routes. In 2024, the airline launched new international routes such as Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Munich (Germany), Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Manila (Philippines), Hanoi - Phnom Penh (Cambodia). At the same time, Vietnam Airlines deployed wide-body aircraft on routes between Vietnam and India, Singapore, and China. The airline's international revenue increased sharply, up to 17.2% over the same period in 2023, contributing significantly to the Corporation's profit in 2024 reaching nearly VND 8,000 billion, the highest in the airline's history.

On April 2, Vietjet also announced the opening of four new routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Beijing and Guangzhou in China.

Flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Beijing, Ho Chi Minh City to Guangzhou, Hanoi to Guangzhou opened on March 30 and the Hanoi to Beijing route opened on April 1.

Of which, the Ho Chi Minh City - Beijing route operates daily, the Hanoi - Beijing route will operate outbound flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays every week, and return flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays (local time). For the Ho Chi Minh City - Guangzhou route, Vietjet flights operate daily, connecting to Baiyun Airport, Guangzhou. The Hanoi - Guangzhou route also operates daily.

Since its first flight to China in 2014, Vietjet has continuously expanded its flight network, connecting Vietnam with more than 50 destinations in Chinese cities and localities: Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi'an and now Beijing and Guangzhou.
