On the night of September 10, Ba Dinh district completed the evacuation of 276 households with 1,059 people living along the Red River in Phuc Xa ward.
Among the relocated households, 58 households rent rooms along the Red River in Phuc Xa ward (mostly temporary houses, with unsafe structures). When the flood reaches the second warning level (10.5m), these households will be directly affected.
Due to the rapid rise of the Red River, Ba Dinh district urgently evacuated people at night.
The leader of the People's Committee of Ba Dinh district said that 1,059 people of 276 households in these 6 residential areas were brought to a safe area at 67 Pho Duc Chinh.
Chairman of Truc Bach Ward People's Committee Nguyen Dan Huy said that accommodation establishments in Truc Bach Ward have donated blankets and pillows, and associations and residential groups have participated in supporting necessities for displaced households.
Displaced people are fully supported with necessities.
In particular, the People's Committee, police, medical staff, and militia will be on duty 24/7 to support health care, daily activities, and ensure security and order.
"Thus, people (mainly the elderly) who have to evacuate to avoid floods can rest assured when they arrive at temporary accommodation," said Mr. Huy.
Previously, Ba Dinh district decided to establish a forward command post in Phuc Xa ward. The command post will direct the People's Committee of Phuc Xa ward and related forces to deploy timely response plans to storms and floods... to ensure people's safety.
At the same time, proactively deploy measures and plans to prepare equipment, supplies, food, drinking water, and temporary accommodation to evacuate people in the Red River area in case of bad storms and floods.
