The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the results of the national excellent student exam for the 2023-2024 school year. This year, the total number of candidates registered to take the exam was 5,819, of which 3,359 won prizes, accounting for 55.7%. Compared to last year, the number of prize-winning candidates increased by 1,076.
Hanoi still leads the country with 184 prize-winning contestants. This year, Hanoi has 234 contestants, the city's prize-winning rate is 78.6%.
Ho Chi Minh City ranked second nationwide with 110 awards. The next positions were Hai Phong (98), Nghe An (90), Hai Duong (89), Vinh Phuc (89), Bac Giang (86), Quang Ninh (85), Nam Dinh (84), Thanh Hoa (84). Hau Giang was the province with the fewest national excellent student awards with 6 awards.
According to the plan, in March 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize an exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in regional and international Olympics in 2024 for the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics.
The condition to be called for the exam is that candidates achieve the prescribed scores. Specifically, Mathematics must score 18 points or higher; Physics must score 26.5 points or higher; Chemistry must score 25.875 points or higher; Biology must score 25.5 points or higher; and Information Technology must score 16.4 points or higher.
The national exam for excellent students took place over two days, January 5-6, with 12 subjects, including Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, English, French, Russian and Chinese.
The percentage of students winning prizes is 60% of the total number of contestants. Of which, the number of first, second, and third prizes does not exceed 60% of the total number of prizes; the number of first prizes does not exceed 5%.
Last year, more than 2,280 out of nearly 4,600 contestants nationwide won prizes. Hanoi, Nghe An, Vinh Phuc and Hai Phong led in the number of prizes. Ho Chi Minh City ranked 12th.
