On the evening of March 6, the Khmer-Vietnamese Women's Association under the Khmer-Vietnamese Association in Cambodia (KVA) held a ceremony to celebrate the 115th anniversary of International Women's Day (March 8, 1910 - March 8, 2025) and the 1985th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung Uprising (April 40, 2025) to express gratitude, acknowledge and honor Vietnamese women who have been and are constantly contributing to their families, society and country.
Speaking at the celebration of International Women's Day, March 8, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu said that this is an opportunity for everyone to come together to express gratitude, acknowledge and honor women - mothers, wives, friends, colleagues - who are always devoted to their families, society, community and country.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized that International Women's Day on March 8 is not only an occasion to honor the beauty and traditional virtues of women, but also an opportunity to look back on the journey of fighting for gender equality, rights and progress of women around the world.
Since the struggle of brave women in 1908, women have been asserting their position in all areas of life.
Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu highly appreciated the Khmer-Vietnamese Women's Association, although it was only established 10 years ago, but it has gathered and united women, supporting each other to overcome difficulties. The Association actively participates in humanitarian and community activities, accompanying KVA in many charity, cultural and educational programs. At the same time, the Association also contributes to preserving and promoting traditional culture, demonstrating the resilient and kind spirit of Vietnamese women.
KVA President Sim Chy said that March 8 every year is a special occasion for women around the world in general and Vietnamese women in particular to joyfully celebrate the great festival, affirming their important role in society.

Expressing deep gratitude to all women who have, are and will continue to make miracles in life, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his hope that society will increasingly pay more attention to women's rights and development, creating conditions for them to maximize their capacity.
In Vietnam, March 8 is also associated with the uprising of Hai Ba Trung – the first two female heroes who led the people to repel foreign invaders and regain national sovereignty. That pride affirms the heroic tradition and important role of Vietnamese women in the history of fighting, building and defending the country.
Believing that women today will continue the spirit of Ba Trung and Ba Trieu, contributing to building happy families, an equal and developed society, KVA President Sim Chy hopes that Vietnamese women will continue to promote the tradition of "confidence - self-respect - loyalty" and the spirit of "being good at national affairs - taking care of family affairs".
Recalling the image of resilient and loyal Vietnamese women throughout history, Ms. Pham Thi Hanh - President of the Khmer-Vietnamese Women's Association emphasized the important contributions of women from the period of fighting for independence to the country's construction today.
According to 2019 statistics from the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, the Vietnamese community in Cambodia has 50,084 women, living in 25 provinces and cities, most of whom are in difficult economic circumstances, especially in remote areas and the Tonle Sap Lake area. Education levels are limited, many do not have citizenship, while only a few women in urban areas have the conditions to do business and succeed.
The Khmer-Vietnamese Women’s Association always accompanies KVA in social, charitable, cultural, educational and volunteer activities. The Association also established the “Women’s Development Support Fund” to help Vietnamese women and local women in difficult circumstances, creating conditions for them to stabilize their lives.
With the spirit of International Women's Day March 8 and the spirit of Hai Ba Trung, Ms. Pham Thi Hanh believes that women in the Vietnamese community in Cambodia will continue to strive, promote the fine traditions of Vietnamese women, and actively contribute to the overall development of the community.
