Gasoline price today December 15: Rising again

At 6:30 a.m. on December 15, Brent oil price was at 74.35 USD/barrel, up 1.47%, equivalent to 1.08 USD/barrel compared to early yesterday morning.

WTI oil price is at 71.09 USD/barrel, up 1.81%, equivalent to an increase of 1.27 USD/barrel.

This is the highest closing level of the two basic oils in the world since the beginning of November.

Thus, in general, during the week, both benchmark oil products increased sharply, in which, Brent oil price increased by 5%, WTI oil price increased by 6%.

The acceleration in oil prices is due to possible sanctions against Russia and Iran, according to analysts, as European Union ambassadors agreed to impose a 15th package of sanctions on Russia targeting its underground oil tanker fleet.

Meanwhile, Britain, France and Germany are ready to restore all international sanctions on Iran to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons if necessary.

Investors also expect the Fed to cut interest rates at its December 17-18 meeting and continue to cut them next year. Lower interest rates could boost economic growth and oil demand.

On the other hand, four European Central Bank policymakers supported further rate cuts provided inflation remains stable at the 2% target.

Analysts say lower interest rates could boost economic growth in developed markets, thereby increasing demand for crude oil.

Domestic gasoline prices

In the operating period on December 12, the price of E5 RON92 gasoline decreased by 3 VND/liter, not higher than 19,861 VND/liter; conversely, the price of RON95 gasoline increased by 33 VND/liter, not higher than 20,596 VND/liter.

Meanwhile, the prices of all types of oil decreased. Diesel oil price decreased by 127 VND/liter, not higher than 18,255 VND/liter. Kerosene price decreased by 251 VND/liter, not higher than 18,566 VND/liter and fuel oil price decreased by 551 VND/kg, not higher than 15,574 VND/kg.

In this period, the regulatory agency continues not to set aside or use the gasoline price stabilization fund for all products.

Thus, from the beginning of 2024 to now, domestic gasoline prices have undergone 49 adjustment sessions, including 23 decrease sessions, 19 increase sessions and 8 opposite sessions.
