World gold price today April 4, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4am today, Vietnam time, was 3,128.62 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 0.12% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (25,922 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 97.7 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 4.5 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Spot gold fell 0.8% to $3,108.55 at 11:27 a.m. EDT (15:27 GMT) after earlier hitting a record high of $3,167.57. U.S. gold futures fell 1.1% to $3,132.40.

Traders attributed the decline to profit-taking and margin calls in other assets, potentially prompting investors to sell off their gold holdings to cover losses, Reuters reported.

“As the market sold off due to deleveraging pressure, the market looked for buying opportunities on dips,” said Peter Grant, vice president and senior metals strategist at Zaner Metals. “People sold profitable positions to cover those margin calls, but I think in the long term they will continue to look for safe havens and gold is certainly one of them.”

President Trump’s tariffs have caused a sharp decline in financial markets on concerns that they could undermine economic growth. However, gold’s overall trajectory appears to be intact, with the safe-haven asset up more than $500 since the start of the year.

David Meger, director of metals trading at High Ridge Futures, called gold's moves "a correction or retracement in a sideways to uptrend."

Central banks are expected to help sustain gold’s rally this year by buying to further diversify reserves away from the dollar amid risks from Trump’s policies. But while the bullish momentum could push prices higher in the first half of the year, a combination of physical and financial market factors could weigh on gold by the end of 2025, HSBC said in a note, forecasting an average price of $3,015.

Silver fell 5.9% to $32.01, its lowest since March 4. While it typically tracks gold, silver is susceptible to broader market swings due to its industrial applications.

Silver is under pressure from demand concerns due to the global sell-off, said Phillip Streible, chief market strategist at Blue Line Futures.

Platinum fell 3.1% to $952.80 and palladium lost 3.5% to $935.61.
