According to records, the harvest has now passed half way, many Vietnamese farmers are still hoarding their goods waiting for higher prices, causing the market to stagnate. To compensate for supply, processing enterprises have increased imports, with 1,731 tons of pepper imported in the first half of March 2025, mainly from Brazil and Indonesia.
Experts say that if output from major producing countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil does not recover soon, global pepper prices may continue to remain high. In addition, demand for pepper is growing rapidly in major markets such as the US and Europe, especially in the food and spice industry, putting further pressure on global supplies.
In addition, farmers’ hoarding mentality may continue to affect domestic supply, causing pepper prices to not fluctuate much in the near future. A strong US dollar may support pepper prices in the international market, but it may also make it difficult for other producing countries to export.

Domestically, pepper prices have remained stable at high levels, although many farmers and traders are still holding onto their stocks and not selling in large quantities. This has led to limited pepper circulation and forecasts that exports in the first quarter of 2025 could hit a six-year low of only about 43,000 - 45,000 tons.
In the world market, the slight decrease in Brazilian pepper prices can be explained by various factors, including the tightening of food safety standards in Europe, making it difficult to export. At the same time, the demand for pepper in major markets such as the US and Europe is increasing, which puts pressure on global supply. However, production in major producing countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil is facing difficulties due to adverse weather, leading to a decrease in output.
