During her final years of high school, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Hong and many other friends had to study online at home.
At this time, the girl in her twenties started her own Tiktok channel called "Hong Sinh Vien". The first videos posted recorded everyday, happy, entertaining moments at that time.
Unexpectedly, those genuine videos were welcomed by millions of people. That is why, after graduating, this Gen Z continued to pursue a career in content creation on social networks.
At work, Hong also witnessed the constant efforts of many young people. At work, they work hard and also play hard. The personality of Gen Z employees is clearly shown.
There are currently many "rumors" about Gen Z employees such as not knowing how to work properly, lacking professionalism, or "turning on the boss".
However, Hong believes that each generation has its own way of working and living.
Regarding comments from the previous generation, according to this young employee, in fact, Gen Z has many advantages. "We are straightforward," Hong affirmed. At work, young people do not hesitate to express their own opinions.
Hong said: "I also used to "turn on my boss", but "turn on" here means expressing my personal opinion to better serve the common work. Gen Z wants to express themselves, wants to show off their abilities instead of just sitting still and listening."
Not only that, Gen Z has independent thinking and financial autonomy very early. When still in school, many people have plans to work extra to earn money for themselves. Along with that, Gen Z works hard and also knows how to love themselves, relax, entertain...
However, Hong also confirmed that Gen Z has many disadvantages besides advantages.
Besides promoting their strengths, Gen Z must know how to overcome their weaknesses (Photo: NVCC).
"Gen Z needs to think more deeply. At work, they need to know how to make plans to carry them out seriously and systematically. Sometimes Gen Z is impatient and shows a strong personality, so they need to know how to "hold back", listen, and observe their surroundings," Hong shared.
Catching "diseases" of Gen Z employees
Many Gen Zers encounter many headaches at work.
Similar to the controversial incident, NHM (Dan Phuong, Hanoi) also encountered a situation where they were "accused" of deleting the company's data.
While working at the old company, this employee was given a company email and registered with his personal mobile phone number. After the contract ended, M. handed over all assets and signed a resignation letter.
M. recounted that during the month after quitting his job, M. frequently received messages asking for support from employees at his old company. The climax was a message from the manager asking for data recovery. Because he was traveling abroad, M. replied that he would contact him when he returned.
Immediately, the manager used disrespectful words, claiming that M. was the one who deleted the company's data.
The incident did not stop there, the manager reported this employee to the new company where she was on probation. The "report" did not have any specific evidence. M. was very upset with the employee of the old company because he was disrespectful and had actions that affected her current job.
This is also a lesson for M. to be decisive and not to be lenient, lest he fall into a very awkward situation.
Ms. Thanh Nguyen - CEO and happiness inspiration of Anphabe said that through the survey, it shows that Gen Z is a confident generation and has independent thinking from a very early age. Besides, this generation always aims for freedom in action.
This is also the reason why they tend to choose more open careers than previous generations.
Gen Z has a wide range of career options.
Gen Z is very "trendy" when choosing booming industries such as e-commerce; financial investment or real estate.
These are all "hot" industries, and even experienced and knowledgeable staff still have to constantly update their knowledge to keep up with trends.
According to Ms. Thanh, trendy, trend-setting jobs give young employees a lot of experience and, more importantly, the freedom to take control of their own lives, which is exactly what Gen Z is aiming for.
"However, behind their confidence, Gen Z employees have many conflicting thoughts, as well as different characteristics compared to other generations as mentioned above. Therefore, it is important for Gen Z to understand themselves clearly to turn differences into career advantages," said Ms. Thanh Nguyen.
To avoid falling into the vicious cycle of "being greedy and easily bored", Ms. Thanh Nguyen recommends: "Remember that it is not simply knowledge, skills or abilities, you need the ability to apply everything you have to create outstanding values for yourself, your family, your business and the community".
Gen Z is the generation of people born from the late 20th century to the early 21st century - the first generation to have the opportunity to be exposed to technology from a young age.
