The above information was given by Mr. Van Ngoc Huong, Chairman of Khanh Vinh District People's Committee (Khanh Hoa Province) to VietNamNet this afternoon (December 15) about the landslide incident on Khanh Le Pass.
Mr. Huong said that from this morning to this afternoon, National Highway 27C through Khanh Le Pass in Son Thai Commune had landslides in many places; rocks and soil spilled onto the road, causing traffic from Nha Trang to Da Lat to be cut off.
According to Mr. Huong, there were about 260 people, including tourists and residents, along with many vehicles stuck at the two landslide sites. The district and local authorities, along with many other forces, divided themselves to cross mountains and forests to reach the landslide area, providing food, mineral water, instant noodles, cakes, and lunch boxes for those stuck.
“Currently, the health of those trapped is stable. The forces are dealing with the landslide,” Mr. Huong said, affirming that this was a landslide with a very large volume of rock and soil.
On the same morning, Khanh Le Pass in Khanh Hoa province collapsed in many places. The landslides had thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil spilling onto the road, causing traffic to be paralyzed. At both ends of the pass, authorities had to put up signs and ropes to warn people and handle and clear the rock and soil.
The road connecting Nha Trang - Da Lat has serious landslides, disrupting traffic . Thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil on Khanh Le pass through Khanh Vinh district (Khanh Hoa province) have poured down and blocked the road, causing traffic from Nha Trang to Da Lat to be interrupted.
