(NLDO)- After three months of writing the game, and two more months of testing and editing, a student in Ho Chi Minh City has successfully researched a project to learn history through games.

At the recent City-level Science and Technology Competition organized by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the topic "Creative solutions to create interest in learning about the Ho Chi Minh Campaign" by student Nguyen Song Ngoc Chau, grade 9, Tran Van On Secondary School (District 1) created surprise and excitement for many participants.

Ngoc Chau's scientific research product also won second prize at the city level in 2024-2025.

According to Chau, the idea of developing and implementing the topic originated from the goal of helping students love history, a subject known as "difficult" for many students.

"Many young people, when asked about basic knowledge of history, are almost unable to answer. Because they think history is not necessary for reality and difficult to absorb. For example, in the 9th grade history subject, when studying the topic of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, although the content is very good, the way of conveying it is difficult to remember, incomplete and stereotyped. From my love for the subject and from the above reality, I researched this topic" - Ngoc Chau said.

Ngoc Chau surveyed 8th and 9th grade students at 4 secondary schools: Tran Van On, Vo Truong Toan (District 1), Le Van Tam, Dong Da (Binh Thanh) on how to approach the specialized knowledge of history about the Ho Chi Minh Campaign. The results showed that most of them had difficulty in self-studying, researching and remembering details, locations, timelines and significance of the campaign. In addition, when surveying the need to learn about the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, 8th grade students mainly studied books. Meanwhile, 9th grade students wanted to interact and work collectively. That set a clear goal for her to find a suitable solution.

Ngoc Chau added that it took her three months to write the game. Then, she spent another two months asking more than 2,000 eighth and ninth graders at Tran Van On Secondary School and Le Van Tam Secondary School (Binh Thanh District) to play it. "After receiving feedback from them, I edited the product and asked them to continue playing. Then I continued to edit to get the product as it is today," Chau said.

Through the game, students will remember the important numbers and events of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.

Nguyen Song Ngoc Chau’s product is a game with sound and images. Before entering the game, players watch a short clip about the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign. “Through the game, students will remember the important numbers and events of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign,” Chau said.

'Sản phẩm nghiên cứu khoa học của học sinh có thể sơ sài nhưng trung thực' "Students' scientific research products may be sketchy but honest"

(NLDO) - Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said: "I believe that students in the city are honest and we do real research. Although the products may be sketchy and may be initial ideas, they are valuable and represent the hard work of teachers and students from schools in the city."

Talking more about his product, Nguyen Song Ngoc Chau shared that the Ho Chi Minh Campaign is a topic in the 9th grade history program. He chose this knowledge as a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
