Fintech proposes green technology development policy

This is clearly demonstrated through the proposals of Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors - General Director of MoMo through major events that have just taken place in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuong and many leading Vietnamese enterprises participated in the Vietnam - US Summit on Investment and Innovation recently held in Vietnam.

This year’s Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum focused on exploring the growth drivers of the green economy, and in this area, Fintech plays an important role in creating sustainable and environmentally friendly financial services. This not only helps protect the environment but also opens up new business and employment opportunities, while motivating the development of businesses and workers.

At the Vietnam-US Summit on Investment and Innovation recently held in Vietnam, the important role of technology and innovation in promoting economic growth was affirmed. Thereby, innovation and investment became a new pillar in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United States, not only opening up new opportunities for economic development of both countries but also contributing to solving global issues such as climate change and environmental protection.

At the event, many Vietnamese enterprises attended and MoMo, one of the leading Unicorn enterprises in the Fintech industry in Vietnam, participated in the discussion at the Vietnam - US Summit on Investment and Innovation. Here, MoMo presented the positive impacts of applying technology in digital transformation in the financial sector and developing inclusive finance in Vietnam.

During the discussion at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuong, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors - General Director of MoMo, discussed the achievements that MoMo has achieved thanks to the development of relations between the two countries. What especially attracted the attention of US leaders and businesses is that through a team of Vietnamese personnel trained at major universities in the US, with research and development funding from US investors (Warbug Pincus) and cooperation with major technology companies such as Google, Microsoft, Oracle, MoMo has completely built its own technology in the financial sector, serving the Vietnamese people.

At the conference, MoMo also made recommendations to promote green technology development in the Fintech sector and create more Unicorn technology companies in Vietnam. First of all, for technology businesses, finding investment capital for innovative, high-risk projects is a big challenge in Vietnam. Meanwhile, the United States has available capital from venture capital funds and private equity funds for technology startups.

MoMo is currently serving more than 30 million people and hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese businesses, providing them with simple and effective digital payment and financial solutions. Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuong proposed that the two governments should jointly study ways to support Vietnamese technology companies to access investment capital from the United States more easily through regular investment forums. This will create opportunities for Vietnamese companies to connect with venture funds, private equity funds and large technology corporations in the United States.

MoMo representative also suggested that the government research and develop regulations and laws in the direction of encouraging, motivating and promoting investment in potential, risky but creative ideas, especially in areas related to important green technologies such as: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Financial Technology (Fintech), Electric Vehicles (EV) .... received the attention of delegates.
