Earlier, on the morning of April 10, the patient suddenly had a severe headache, staggered and quickly fell into a deep coma. The family immediately took the patient to People's Hospital 115, where doctors and nurses urgently performed endotracheal intubation and intensive resuscitation with all efforts to save the patient's life.
However, the severe brain damage left the patient in a state of irreversible brain death. The family made a brave and noble decision: to donate all of Mr. Y's tissues and organs to help other patients.
At noon on April 11, after the expert council concluded that the patient was brain dead, People's Hospital 115, with close support from the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center and Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, urgently completed the steps in the organ donation - collection - transplantation process in accordance with regulations.

Major hospitals with high expertise in organ transplantation across the country are also mobilized to coordinate in retrieving organs for patients on the transplant waiting list of the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center managed by the units.
Doctors hold a moment of silence to honor organ donors
The organ harvesting surgery was conducted with the participation of experts from many leading medical facilities such as: 108 Military Central Hospital, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Central Lung Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, People's Hospital 115, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City... The donated tissues and organs included: 2 corneas, liver, heart and lungs - all were carefully preserved and transferred to receiving facilities, bringing new life to many critically ill patients.
Currently, the donor's heart, liver, lungs and 2 corneas have been successfully transplanted into the recipient under the coordination of the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center.
