On August 29, on the sidelines of the 18th Bled Strategy Forum (BSF) in Slovenia, Slovenian Minister of Economy, Tourism and Sports Matjaz Han said that the relationship between the European Union (EU) and China is one of the “most strategically important” relationships.
At the same time, the EU and China are two of the largest trading partners in the world, and thus have a high degree of economic interdependence.
Mr. Han also affirmed that EU-China relations are not only of strategic economic importance but also key to global food security, climate security, health issues and sustainable finance for developing countries.
Commenting on the prospects for bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, the official said that bilateral trade between China and Slovenia is growing every year.
Ljubljana aims to strengthen trade and investment cooperation with Beijing and welcomes investment from the world's second largest economy in sustainable, green and circular development projects, including in areas such as automotive components (especially electric and hybrid vehicles), information and communication technology (ICT), biotechnology, new materials, alternative energy production, environmental care, etc.
Regarding Slovenia's cooperation with China within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Minister Han said that the two countries cooperate in key areas including transportation, logistics, infrastructure, trade and investment promotion, finance, science and technology, sports and tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
