Ho Chi Minh City After the incident in which the manager of the Trang Khuyet Shelter in District 12 beat an 85-year-old woman, the remaining 13 people at the facility were moved to a new place to live.

On May 27, a representative of the People's Committee of Thanh Loc Ward (District 12) said that they had completed procedures to bring 13 elderly people aged 60-85 to the Ho Chi Minh City Social Protection Center in Binh Thanh District for support and health check-ups.

The elderly have been living at the Trang Khuyet Inn charity facility since 2020. They were relocated after Huynh Van Gioi, 69, the facility's manager, was arrested for repeatedly beating and cursing an 85-year-old woman.

Working with the police, Mr. Gioi stated that the old lady was no longer lucid and did not listen to him, so he got angry and beat her. The incident was recorded by a person at the shelter. The victim was taken to another shelter in Tan Binh district for care due to her poor health.

On April 5, this place was inspected by the authorities and fined 750,000 VND for "not complying with regulations on temporary residence registration", instructing the facility to comply with legal regulations on residence.
