“However, the third factor is considered an “unknown” because schools only know the total number of applications for admission to the school, but do not know the specifics of each major, nor do they know how many candidates have applied for the first or second choice, etc. Therefore, when lacking a basis, predictions about the benchmark score are only relative and for reference,” said Mr. Trinh.

According to Mr. Trinh, through the analysis of the 2024 high school graduation exam score distribution announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, most subjects and admission combinations by block are slightly higher than last year.

For non-pedagogical training majors of Hanoi National University of Education, this year's quota remains stable; while for pedagogical majors, the quota for some majors has decreased slightly, such as Physics Pedagogy, Chemistry Pedagogy, Biology Pedagogy (these used to be compulsory subjects in junior high school and high school, now they have become elective subjects, leading to a lower demand for teachers).

Thus, it can be seen that the general level of high school graduation exam scores of students is increasing, while the pedagogical quota is decreasing, from which there are 2 factors to create the trend of increasing standard scores.

Therefore, according to Mr. Trinh, if we do not consider the third factor that is still unknown, it can be generally predicted that the benchmark scores of the school's majors this year will increase slightly compared to last year.

In particular, for the pedagogical majors that have reduced quotas this year, such as Physics Pedagogy, Chemistry Pedagogy, and Biology Pedagogy, the standard score is expected to increase the most, possibly 1-1.5 points higher than last year.

The benchmark scores for the remaining teacher training majors such as Mathematics Pedagogy, Literature Pedagogy, etc. may increase slightly, from 0.25 to 0.5.

According to Mr. Trinh, the benchmark scores for non-pedagogical training groups will not fluctuate much. “If anything, the benchmark scores will only fluctuate up or down by 0.25 to 0.5,” Mr. Trinh said.

For the two new integrated majors that the school opened and started enrolling students in 2024, namely Natural Science Pedagogy and History - Geography Pedagogy, Mr. Trinh predicted that the benchmark score would not be low but would be at the same level as the corresponding majors: Physics Pedagogy, Chemistry Pedagogy, Biology Pedagogy, History Pedagogy, Geography Pedagogy, etc.

“Although these majors are new, it does not mean that the benchmark scores will be low. These are still majors that meet the social output needs in the process of implementing the 2018 general education program. Therefore, they are still attractive to learners and therefore, the benchmark scores are not much different from traditional majors,” said Mr. Trinh.

According to Mr. Trinh, the correlation between the order of high and low benchmark scores of industries/industry groups will be the same as last year.
