On April 29, at Sa Ky port (Binh Chau commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province), many passengers came to the counters to buy tickets, complete procedures and lined up to board the speedboat to Ly Son island for sightseeing and tourism.
According to Deputy Director of the Port Management Board and Inland Waterways Port Authority of Quang Ngai Province, Ta Cong Chuc, the number of visitors to the island during the April 30 - May 1 holidays this year increased 3 times compared to normal days.
On April 27 and 28 alone, there were about 4,500 visitors to Ly Son Island, and on April 29, there were nearly 2,000 visitors to the island. Sa Ky Port Management Board has arranged dozens of high-speed and super-speed boats to serve tourists' needs with a frequency of more than 30 minutes/trip.
“There are usually about 4 boat trips to the island on normal days. However, during the holidays, the number of tourists increases dramatically, so the Port Management Board has planned to increase 15-17 trips/day to ensure the transport of all passengers to Ly Son,” said Mr. Chuc.
It is expected that in the remaining 2 days of the holiday, the number of visitors to Ly Son Island will decrease somewhat, but will still be high, with an estimated number of 1,000 - 1,500 people/day.
According to the People's Committee of Ly Son district, last year, the total number of visitors to the island reached 170,000, including nearly 2,000 international visitors. Recently, the number of tourists visiting the island has increased, so the number of infrastructure and accommodation facilities have also been invested in and upgraded.
Currently, Ly Son has 130 accommodation establishments, including 23 hotels, 47 motels and 55 homestays. Since the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, the number of visitors to Ly Son has increased rapidly and increased dramatically during the April 30 - May 1 holiday. At this point, all hotels, motels and homestays are fully booked.
“We are promoting the owners of motels, homestays, hotels, etc. to publicly list their prices. In case of illegal profiteering, if discovered, the local authorities will strictly handle it,” said Pham Thi Huong, Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Ly Son district.
According to Ms. Huong, Ly Son identifies tourism as a key economic sector. However, development must be associated with the general spatial planning towards a sea and island tourism center in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 26-NQ/TW dated November 3, 2022 of the Politburo on "Socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the North Central and Central Coast regions to 2030, with a vision to 2045".
