Before the match with strong opponent U17 Japan taking place this afternoon (June 20), Coach Hoang Anh Tuan of U17 Vietnam said that we are determined to surprise the opposing team.

Interestingly, after the first match of Group D 3 days ago, both matches of U17 Vietnam-India and Japan-Uzbekistan ended in a 1-1 draw. The four teams now have one point each, with a goal difference of 1-1.

Talking about the chances of the 4 teams in Group D, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan said: "The four teams in the group almost have to start from scratch, especially U17 Vietnam will have a very difficult match against Japan."

Mr. Tuan added: "Japan is a very strong football country, their youth training is extremely good.

However, at the age of 15-17, young players are not stable, they are not yet professionally perfected, so U17 Vietnam still has a chance in the upcoming match.

The important thing is in the upcoming match, how will U17 Vietnam play, what is the mentality of the players, will my students play to their true potential or not?".

Previously, in the match against India on June 17, U17 Vietnam was the team leading in the first half. But in the second half, coach Hoang Anh Tuan's players made a number of mistakes, allowing the opponent to equalize and lose points, which was very regrettable.

The weakness of young Vietnamese players is experience. When they are not ahead, coach Hoang Anh Tuan's players play very well, but when they are ahead, the team does not know how to maintain their advantage, due to the fear of losing.

Therefore, in the match against Japan, when playing as the underdog, it is likely that the U17 Vietnam team will have an easier time, because we will enter the field with the mentality of having nothing to lose.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan revealed: "U17 Vietnam has certain advantages, but as I said, the deciding factor is still how we perform on the field."

The match between U17 Vietnam and U17 Japan will take place at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon (June 20), at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok (Thailand).

On the morning of June 19, U17 Vietnam spent more than an hour analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of U17 Japan through video. Although cautious, the whole team has confidence to achieve a positive result against a very strong opponent.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan shared: “We had coaching staff analysis sessions on the Japanese team's playing style through videotapes and documents collected about the opponents in the group stage before we came here.

This morning, the players had a short meeting, studying the Japanese team's playing style to prepare for tomorrow's match."
