Indonesia to host 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship

The U23 Southeast Asian Championship is considered a "launching pad" for players who are the successors of national teams in the region. Under coach Park Hang-seo, U23 Vietnam has become the "big brother" of Southeast Asia with a squad of players from the "golden generation" since 2018.

Vietnam U23 has many achievements in the Southeast Asian U23 playground

At this playground, after 4 times of organization, U23 Vietnam is the most successful team with two consecutive championships. In 2022, U23 Vietnam played impressively and excellently defeated Thailand 1-0 in the final match. A year later, the "golden star warriors" continued to affirm their position when successfully defending the "throne" with a victory over U23 Indonesia.

According to the plan announced by AFF to its member federations, the 2025 AFF U23 Championship will take place from July 15 to 31, 2025 in Indonesia. This is the first time the archipelago nation has officially hosted this tournament since 2005. Previously, Indonesia was chosen as the host in 2011, but the tournament was canceled due to the incomplete renovation of Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium - the main competition venue.

Looking forward to the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship as well as two key goals this year, the 2026 Asian U23 qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has proactively built a preparation plan very early.

U23 Vietnam has a strong force, evenly distributed in all lines.

From 2024 to present, the Vietnam U23 team has had many training sessions coinciding with the national team's FIFA Days, and has also participated in two international friendly tournaments, U22 CFA Team China 2024 and 2025, with the participation of many leading teams in Asia.

In addition, VFF and coach Kim Sang-sik also create conditions for young players to gain early experience through gatherings with the U23 team and the Vietnam team, in which some excellent players also compete and leave an impression at the ASEAN Cup 2024.

With proactive and methodical preparation and a rejuvenated squad, the Vietnam U23 team continues to show great determination in the journey to compete for the "throne" of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
