People's Artist Bach Tuyet's passion project at the age of 80

On December 18, People's Artist Bach Tuyet announced her new project, the program "Academy of Reformed Opera" - a reality TV program with a combination of training - competition - performance. The program is built in the form of an academy with the Director being People's Artist - Doctor of Arts Bach Tuyet.

Joining her are two artists: Chau Thanh, Thanh Hang, along with the "musician" - musician, People's Artist Thanh Hai, who accompanies the contestants throughout the program.

People's Artist Bach Tuyet has been a hot seat in competitions to select young talents and professional Cai Luong theater festivals and performances organized by the Department of Performing Arts, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vietnam Stage Artists Association for many decades, so she has a lot of prestige and experience to carry out this project.

She shared that the program will equip students with basic knowledge about the art of singing and performing Cai Luong; create a space from the practice floor to the stage for students to gradually become professional Cai Luong artists.

At the same time, the program also aims to train them to become cultural activists, contributing to the preservation and development of the country's cultural and artistic heritage.

"Setting clear criteria, this program aims to find - train - pass on the profession and "tailor" the voices and roles that suit the strengths of each student. In addition to the core artists and lecturers, the academy will gather many master artists to teach and impart knowledge and skills to students through each episode and challenge.

They are all famous artists, who have made great contributions to the art of reformed opera and theater. I am very happy that some colleagues have joined me to carry out this new project, which will start in 2024," said People's Artist Bach Tuyet.

The program promises to be a meeting place for audiences who love Cai Luong theater and learn about cultural regions with tangible and intangible heritages - oral tradition. From the stories and people told through each episode broadcast on Today TV and People's Artist Bach Tuyet's YouTube channel, it will contribute to enriching and exploring Vietnamese cultural sediments, including Cai Luong theater art.

"The Academy of Reformed Opera" will have 12 episodes, competing in a gradual elimination format. The producer revealed that the program will have a very different color compared to before in terms of reformed opera art.

The important criterion is to target the majority of young audiences. "Because they are the important element to continue preserving and promoting the value of Cai Luong art" - People's Artist Bach Tuyet emphasized.

Artist Thanh Hang said she was excited to accept the invitation to participate in this program because she knew that the contestants were from 16 to 40 years old, possessing all the elements of opera art. Contestants knowing foreign languages is also an advantage.

Artist Thanh Hang said that during her career, she was fortunate to work with seniors. Since winning the Tran Huu Trang Gold Medal in 1991, she has had many opportunities to work and study with People's Artist Bach Tuyet. "She brought me many lessons, especially creative thinking, beautifying the art of Cai Luong. Therefore, when I received the invitation to participate in the program, I immediately agreed" - artist Thanh Hang confided.

Artist Chau Thanh always hopes to have the opportunity to work with People's Artist Bach Tuyet, because she not only learns from her senior about professional expertise but also about ethical thinking.

"In my singing career, I have always been grateful to the seniors who supported me since my first steps in the profession. Currently, being able to be a bridge to connect and help the younger generation is a happiness. In the program, I will inspire and encourage young people to be more confident and keep their passion forever," artist Chau Thanh shared.
