Promoting innovative startups in agriculture

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in recent times, the province has had many successful projects and startup ideas in the fields of organic agriculture, ecological agriculture and high-tech agriculture, thereby bringing great economic value to farmers, helping to promote startup activities in agriculture.

Mr. Tran Lam Sinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that Dong Nai is a locality with many strengths in agricultural development, including great potential for agricultural startups. The province is currently implementing a policy of developing high-tech agriculture and organic agriculture associated with the consumer market.

“The organization of the Connecting Workshop aims to motivate and spread the entrepreneurial spirit to people participating in related activities in the agricultural sector. Thereby, contributing to promoting connecting activities and promoting investment in highly feasible startup ideas and projects,” Mr. Sinh emphasized.

In the period of 2019 - 2023, the province attracted 53 projects from domestic enterprises to invest in projects serving agricultural development, preservation and processing of agricultural products. In addition, there are 26 projects with foreign investment capital with a total registered investment capital of nearly 137.7 million USD.

Investment projects have contributed to promoting socio-economic development, especially in the agricultural and rural areas. Along with large projects of investors and enterprises, there are many start-up models in the agricultural sector in the province that have proactively applied science and technology to agricultural production. Thereby bringing great economic value to farmers, helping to promote start-up activities in agriculture.

Typically, the Provincial Farmers' Association, through the implementation of the project to Enhance the role of the Vietnam Farmers' Association in supporting innovative start-up farmers in the period 2020-2025, Dong Nai has seen more and more models of good farmers in production and business, generating income from several billion to several tens of billions of VND/year.

Every year, the Farmers Support Fund is supplemented with 10 billion VND from the budget, focusing on supporting high-tech agricultural models and organic agricultural production.

The Association also increased training activities to provide knowledge and skills in production and entrepreneurship for tens of thousands of farmer members. In the period of 2020-2023, the Association organized many delegations to study high-tech agricultural models for officials and members to approach successful examples and apply them in practice.

Implement well the policy of developing organic agriculture

To ensure sustainable development of the agricultural sector, high-tech agriculture, organic agriculture, ecological agriculture, and focusing on deep processing of agricultural products are what Dong Nai focuses on.

On August 2, 2024, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 266/KH-UBND to implement the Project on developing organic agricultural production in Dong Nai province by 2030.

Accordingly, the province has well implemented the state's mechanisms and policies on organic agricultural development. Projects of enterprises that meet the organic agricultural criteria as prescribed will be given priority to enjoy policies according to Resolution No. 05/2023/NQ-HDND dated July 14, 2023 on policies to support the development of organic agricultural production in Dong Nai province until 2030, Resolution No. 143/2018/NQ-HDND dated December 7, 2018 of the Provincial People's Council on policies to support linkages in production and consumption of agricultural products in Dong Nai province...

Continue research to develop new policies, especially encouraging businesses to invest in organic agriculture, creating conditions for innovative startups to invest in this field.

The province will have many programs to support farmers and startups in terms of market connection, capital, finance, training, and improving startup capacity organized in the coming time.
