On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the International Day of Older Persons (October 1, 1991 - October 1, 2024), on the afternoon of September 25, Comrade Doan Minh Huan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee visited and presented gifts to the elderly being cared for and nurtured at the Provincial Center for Social Protection and Work; representatives of the elderly in Ninh Son ward (Ninh Binh city).
Accompanying the delegation were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee Office, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Ninh Binh City People's Committee, Provincial Elderly Association Representative Board, Ninh Binh City Elderly Association Representative Board and representatives of local authorities where the delegation visited.
The Provincial Social Work and Protection Center is currently caring for 96 subjects, including 57 elderly people. With the mission of providing social work services and receiving, managing, caring for, and nurturing lonely elderly people with no place to rely on, and people with severe disabilities, in the past time, the staff, civil servants, and workers at the Center have cared for and nurtured the subjects with a sense of responsibility and love, creating the best conditions for the elderly to participate in activities suitable to their psychology and aspirations to live happily, healthily, and usefully. The Center implements policies and regimes for the subjects in accordance with the State's regulations.
On the same day, Provincial Party Secretary Doan Minh Huan visited and presented gifts to the elderly over 100 years old: Mrs. Pham Thi Ky, born in 1922, on Phuong Dinh street, Ninh Son ward; Mrs. Nguyen Thi My, born in 1923, on Bac Thinh street, Ninh Son ward (Ninh Binh city).
At the places he visited, the Provincial Party Secretary kindly asked about the health, living conditions, material and spiritual life of the elderly. The Provincial Party Secretary acknowledged the efforts and activities of the Provincial Center for Social Protection and Work in various fields of work, especially in caring for the elderly.
He emphasized: Caring for the elderly is one of the very important policies of the Party and State, demonstrating the socialist orientation and social progress. The Party and State have made adjustments to the regime and policies to better meet the practical needs of the elderly; providing comprehensive care for the elderly in all aspects.
The Provincial Party Secretary also requested the staff, civil servants, and social workers at the Provincial Center for Social Protection and Work to continue to better promote their responsibilities in performing their duties. Pay more attention to the nutritional regime for the elderly; expand socialization and mobilize resources in caring for the elderly.
The Provincial Party Secretary hopes that children, relatives and the community, together with local Party committees and authorities, will continue to care for, love and look after the elderly so that they can live happily and healthily, and constantly improve the material and spiritual life of the elderly in the area.
He wished the elders a happy and healthy life, upholding the spirit of "Old age is a shining example", continuing to teach their children and grandchildren to actively work, study and work; encouraging family members to participate in social work, building cultural life in residential areas...
