Mazda CX-5's rival is preparing for an upgrade, will it regain its appeal?

The dealer shared that the Hyundai Tucson 2024 will be launched in Vietnam in November. This information has not been confirmed by TC Motor, but according to experts, this is reasonable, because the current generation of this model was introduced at the end of 2021.

In the C-SUV segment, Hyundai Tucson is gradually losing its appeal despite its low suggested retail price (VND 769-919 million), only higher than Mazda CX-5 (VND 749-979 million).

In the first half of 2024, the Korean car model's sales ranking was only in 4th place, even losing to billion-dollar products like the Honda CR-V.

In this mid-life upgrade, the overall appearance of the 2024 Tucson remains the same. Design innovations are focused on the front of the car, specifically the new Parametric Jewel grille and positioning lights, the front bumper is also remade with faux underbody protection details, next to a new set of alloy wheels.

The interior of the car has many changes: a panoramic curved screen including a digital dashboard connected to an entertainment screen, both 12.3 inches in size. The car has a new 3-spoke steering wheel, integrated with a paddle shifter similar to the 2024 Santa Fe, a redesigned center console, and a wireless charging pad in the "saddle" area.

In terms of performance, the 2024 Hyundai Tucson is likely to retain the same 3 engine options as it is only a mid-life upgrade. First is the 2.0L naturally aspirated gasoline engine (156 horsepower/192Nm), followed by the 2.0L diesel (186 horsepower/416Nm) and the 1.6L turbocharged gasoline (180 horsepower and 265Nm).

Since the Mazda CX-5 was upgraded in July 2023 with a sharp price reduction of up to 90 million VND, a trend of price reductions has broken out in the C-SUV segment. Products are competing with big promotions and even adjusting suggested retail prices.

In particular, the listed price of Tucson was reduced by 191 million VND in October 2023, then increased by 90 million VND in December of the same year and decreased again by 50 million VND in April 2024. However, the sales of this model in recent months have not been high due to the small number of cars brought to dealers.

Currently, some dealers in Hanoi have run out of the Petrol versions (Standard and Special) of the Hyundai Tucson, some places are "short" of the 1.6L Turbocharged Petrol version. Most showrooms have the Special Oil variant available, in all colors for delivery, with a promotion of about 40 million VND.
