Taking us to visit a coffee garden intercropped with lush durian that is about to bloom, Mr. A Bloh (Gia Rai ethnic group), O village, Ya Xier commune, Sa Thay district shared: Without the care, support, guidance and companionship of the commune officials, I could not have done what I have done today.

Mr. A Bloh said: Before, I only knew how to grow cassava and upland rice. Thanks to the guidance and support of the commune officials to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank for growing rubber and coffee, in 2022, I was supported with 200 more durian trees to intercrop in the coffee garden. Since then, the family has had income and used the accumulated capital to invest in expanding the scale of production. Up to now, the family has grown nearly 1 hectare of coffee, 2 hectares of rubber, and 2 hectares of durian. The annual income is nearly 300 million VND.

With investment resources from the National Target Programs, from 2022 to present, Ya Xiêr commune has supported 197 striped piglets for 161 households and has developed 33 more; supported 164 breeding cows for 164 households and has developed 34 more.

In addition, implementing the Project "Renovating mixed gardens" associated with the Campaign "Changing the thinking and working methods of ethnic minorities, helping ethnic minorities rise up and escape poverty sustainably", in the commune, 322 ethnic minority households participated in the project to renovate mixed gardens with an area of ​​over 190 hectares of durian, macadamia and other fruit trees. Participating in the models, many households have spent more money to install automatic and economical irrigation systems.

Mr. Phan Chi Thien, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ya Xiêr Commune, Sa Thay District, said: In the process of implementing the National Target Programs, the Party Committee of the Commune directed the People's Committee of the Commune to deploy them promptly, sufficiently and to the right subjects. In order for the models to support ethnic minorities to develop their economy effectively, the Party Committee of the Commune focused on promoting the pioneering and exemplary role of each Party member. Directed the Party Cells to assign Party members to be in charge of groups of households and each poor household. From there, Party members will closely follow each household, instruct households after receiving support on how to raise livestock and grow crops effectively and promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of each household to have timely support directions.

Village changes

Along with supporting livelihoods and helping ethnic minorities increase their income, Ya Xier commune also takes advantage of resources from National Target Programs to invest in infrastructure, prioritizing the renovation of the commune center and traffic routes to the people's production areas. From 2021 to present, the commune has invested in building 13 traffic routes, 02 centralized domestic water works, 02 cultural communal houses, and supported the construction of 6 houses... The economic and social infrastructure system has been invested synchronously, the appearance of the commune has improved and become more spacious.

With investment resources from National Target Programs and the participation of ethnic minorities, the roads in Lung village, Ya Xier commune have been concreted.

With comprehensive investment attention, the life of ethnic minorities in Ya Xier commune is changing day by day, currently the average income per capita in the commune reaches 45 million VND/person/year; from 2020 to now, the whole commune has reduced 588 poor households, the average annual poverty reduction rate is 10.09%; the commune has achieved 15/19 new rural criteria and 01 village has met new rural standards.
