Lao Cai: Meeting to discuss feasibility plan for Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway construction investment project

CTTĐT – On the afternoon of April 5, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting with the Railway Project Management Board to review the route through Lao Cai province of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway construction investment project.

The investment project to build the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line was approved by the National Assembly in Resolution 187/2025/QH15 dated February 19, 2025. Of which, the total length of the main line is 390.9km (the Lao Cai Station - Lach Huyen Port Station section is 385.8km, the Lao Cai Station - rail junction section is 5.1km), 03 branch lines are about 27.9km, the route range through Lao Cai province is about 65km, passing through Lao Cai city, Bao Thang district, Bao Yen district and Van Ban district. The total investment is 203,231 billion VND, of which the cost of compensation and resettlement support is 35,751 billion VND.

The route is expected to have 18 stations (03 train-making stations, 15 mixed stations) and 13 technical stations. Of which, in Lao Cai province, there are 02 stations and 02 technical stations: New Lao Cai Station: Total area occupied is about 60ha, is a mixed station, with cargo and passenger operations; Existing Lao Cai Station has an area of ​​24ha; Bao Thang Station: Total area occupied is about 26ha, is a mixed station, with operations: Passengers and goods; Sa Pa technical station (in Cam Con commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province): Total area occupied is about 38ha; Van Ban technical station (in Tan Thuong commune, Van Ban district, Lao Cai province): Total area occupied is about 24.2ha.
