(Fatherland) - The water procession is one of the important rituals in the Du Yen Temple Festival, Chi Tien Commune, Thanh Ba District, Phu Tho. The Du Yen Temple Festival was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage on November 10, 2023.
Du Yen Temple Festival in the year of Giap Thin 2024 in Chi Tien commune, Thanh Ba district is held on February 23 and 24 (January 14 and 15). The water procession opens the festival to commemorate the merits of female general Nguyen Thi Hanh (female general of Hai Ba Trung) and pray for favorable weather and prosperity for every family.
On the morning of January 14, the procession went from Du Yen Temple to the Red River to get sacred water.
The palanquin carrying team is led by women in the commune.
In the procession, there is a fairy dance troupe with fairy dances performed by educated girls under 16 years old from well-educated families.

Dragon boat takes the group to the middle of the Red River to get sacred water.
The sacred water was contained in jars and then carried on palanquins to Du Yen temple.
The procession and visitors happily brought the jar of sacred water to the temple.
The sacred water is used to bathe the statues of gods, clean the throne, tablets and other worship objects in the main palace of Du Yen Temple. On February 23, 2024, Thanh Ba District People's Committee organized the Ceremony to receive the national intangible cultural heritage "Du Yen Temple Festival". This is an event to affirm and honor the Festival and the value of the heritage.
