Thanh Hoa's tourism revenue during the 4-day September 2 holiday was 24% compared to April 30, while Nghe An's decreased by 70%.

During the 4-day holiday, the entire Thanh Hoa province welcomed 320,000 visitors, bringing in revenue of 663 billion VND, with room occupancy reaching 29%. Room occupancy at Pu Luong tourist area alone reached 100%. However, compared to April 30, both the number of visitors and revenue decreased sharply, by 26.6% and 24%, respectively.

On April 30, Thanh Hoa ranked second in tourism revenue with over VND2,800 billion and welcomed 1.2 million visitors, after Ho Chi Minh City. At that time, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Pham Nguyen Hong said the province welcomed a "record high" number of visitors despite unfavorable weather and rain during the first days of the holiday.

Nghe An welcomed 270,000 visitors, total tourism revenue reached over 500 billion VND, room occupancy rate reached over 50%. However, this result was only 30% compared to 780,000 visitors and 1,500 billion VND on April 30.

Besides Thanh Hoa, many provinces and cities on April 30th leading the country in tourism revenue or being tourist hotspots, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Khanh Hoa, Nghe An all earned less than during National Day.

Ho Chi Minh City is expected to welcome 960,000 visitors during the 4-day holiday, according to statistics from the city's Department of Tourism, with estimated revenue of VND2,890 billion and room occupancy of 80%. The number of visitors increased slightly compared to April 30 (950,000), room occupancy was 10% higher but revenue was lower, only reaching 93%.

Hanoi is expected to welcome 640,000 visitors, with revenue of more than VND2,000 billion, and hotel room occupancy rate of 59.5%. All three indicators increased compared to the same period in 2022, but the number of visitors and revenue were lower than on April 30. During the April 30 holiday, Hanoi welcomed more than 720,000 visitors, earning VND2,400 billion and room occupancy rate of 58%.

Khanh Hoa welcomed more than half a million visitors, with revenue reaching VND662 billion and room occupancy rate reaching 69%. This figure is lower than VND850 billion and 800,000 visitors that the province welcomed on April 30.

Kien Giang in general and Phu Quoc city in particular also saw a 50% decrease in visitors compared to April 30. During the 4-day National Day holiday, Kien Giang is estimated to welcome nearly 127,000 visitors. Phu Quoc city is estimated to welcome nearly 63,000 visitors. On April 30, Kien Giang welcomed 265,000 visitors, of which Phu Quoc welcomed 112,000 visitors.

Meanwhile, Ha Giang still maintains its position as one of the provinces with the highest room occupancy rate in the country. On September 2 and 3, the province's room occupancy rate reached 95-100%. On the first and last days of the holiday, room occupancy rate reached 80-93%. On April 30, Ha Giang's room occupancy rate was also among the highest in the country, with an average of 95% over the 5-day holiday.

According to the provincial Department of Tourism, this year Ha Giang has many different activities compared to previous years. Ha Giang city and Vi Xuyen and Quan Ba districts have invested in flower trucks with the theme of autumn colors, while Dong Van district organized a Mong flute festival to attract tourists. Total tourism revenue reached nearly 178 billion VND, equal to 59% compared to the occasion of April 30.

One of the reasons why many provinces and cities that are famous tourist destinations in the country have less visitors and revenue than April 30 is that the September 2 holiday is one day shorter, many tourists have gone on vacation during the summer, so there are no plans to continue traveling on National Day. Children are also preparing for the new school year, so families limit long or long trips. The weather in some destinations in coastal cities in the central and southern regions such as Da Nang, Binh Dinh, and Phu Quoc is not favorable due to the influence of storms or rain.
