Businesses lack unskilled workers

Việt NamViệt Nam03/04/2025

At Thanh Loc Industrial Park (Chau Thanh), Thai Binh Kien Giang Joint Stock Company is recruiting about 1,000 general workers, 40 production managers, and 10 office staff to serve the needs of expanding production and fulfilling new orders signed with customers.

Nguyen Van Tuan, General Director of Thai Binh Kien Giang Joint Stock Company, said: “The company is in the process of expanding production due to continuously receiving large orders from new customers. We offer quite attractive income levels from 6.5 to 10 million VND/month or more along with policies such as insurance, allowances, and annual health check-ups, but we still cannot recruit enough workers.”

Hwaseung Rach Gia Company, with a large production scale, specializes in manufacturing sports shoes for export and is looking to recruit 2,000 unskilled workers to meet the delivery schedule as committed to international customers. New employees of the company, in addition to receiving a salary of 5.7 - 6.75 million VND/month, also enjoy many other benefits such as periodic health check-ups and holiday bonuses. However, the company is still facing many difficulties and has not been able to recruit the large number of workers it needs.

At Tac Cau fishing port (Chau Thanh), Kien Cuong Import-Export Seafood Processing Joint Stock Company needs to recruit about 300 seafood processing workers, with priority given to women with squid processing skills. Workers will receive a salary of 10 - 12 million VND/month, along with free meals, bonuses for diligence, holiday bonuses and full insurance. According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Kien Cuong Import-Export Seafood Processing Joint Stock Company, the company has not yet recruited the desired number of workers. The situation of workers "job-hopping" in this industry is very common. Competition in labor recruitment is increasingly fierce.

In the garment sector, Vinatex Kien Giang Garment Factory (Go Quao) continuously announced the recruitment of about 100 more workers to meet signed export orders. Director of Vinatex Kien Giang Garment Factory Nguyen Van Sang said that the company currently has 650 workers. After the Lunar New Year 2025, the company signed new orders and needed to recruit more workers.

“The factory has many policies such as supporting workers with regular health check-ups twice a year; support for raising young children; allowances for diligence and gasoline; bonuses based on productivity and quality; holiday bonuses; full insurance... Although we clearly posted recruitment content including unskilled workers who will be trained after recruitment, we still have not recruited enough people,” said Mr. Sang.

Currently, businesses are struggling with the problem of finding enough workers, while new orders have been signed. According to research, many workers are worried that jobs to meet seasonal orders will not be sustainable, so they have not applied for jobs at businesses. Many people want to find stable jobs with suitable income and stay with the business for a longer time. In addition, many workers, when seeing other businesses increase salaries and bonuses to handle short-term orders, "jump" to that business, causing the unskilled labor source in some businesses to be unstable, affecting the implementation of production and business plans.

Faced with the above situation, the problem of human resources serving sustainable production and business associated with building a stable and healthy labor market is posing not only to businesses but also to workers along with local authorities and functional sectors...

Kien Giang currently has nearly 12,500 operating enterprises, with a total registered capital of more than VND 214,500 billion, operating in industries such as footwear, garment, mining, construction materials production, processing industry, construction, transportation, tourism, wholesale, retail, agricultural, forestry and fishery services... These enterprises create jobs for about 308,000 workers, accounting for 20.33% of the labor force in the province.
