FDI enterprises reported landslides after heavy rains that damaged factories and sent petitions but have not received any response.
At the meeting and dialogue between the Da Nang city government and the local business community on the afternoon of October 11, Mr. Niwa Ryo, representative of Niwa Foundry Vietnam Co., Ltd., expressed concerns about the infrastructure of the Da Nang High-Tech Park (Hoa Lien commune, Hoa Vang district).
He said that the historic rain in mid-October 2022 in Da Nang caused a landslide from the outside slope that flooded into the company's factory, causing great damage. After petitioning the Management Board of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones, the unit dug a drainage ditch.
However, the rain on September 25 continued to cause mud to flow into the factory, damaging property. "This makes us feel insecure about the infrastructure at the High-Tech Park," said Mr. Ryo, adding that the measures taken by the High-Tech Park Management Board were only temporary.

The company representative also said that they have sent petitions to the city authorities twice but have not received any response so far. Niwa Foundry Vietnam Co., Ltd. is the first enterprise to be granted an investment certificate in the High-Tech Park by Da Nang. The company's headquarters is located on Trung Tam Street, a few hundred meters away is a hill, surrounded by many vacant lots because other companies have not yet built complete infrastructure.
Mr. Tran Van Ty, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones, said that the rainfall on October 14, 2022 was three times higher than the city's infrastructure could withstand. Da Nang High-Tech Park is located right next to the hillside in the northern mountainous area of the city, so Niwa Foundry Vietnam Company was affected.
After this incident, the Management Board assigned the Joint Service Center as the unit to operate the High-Tech Park, using the maintenance fund of 2023 to dredge and clear the flow, paying special attention to the flooded areas of 2022-2023. "Hopefully, similar situations will not happen again in the future," said Mr. Ty, adding that the flooding at this company only happened during the historic rain exactly one year ago.

After this response, the company representative continued to affirm that the rain on September 25 caused the company to be flooded with mud. Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh said that the Management Board of the High-Tech Park and Da Nang Industrial Parks that leased the infrastructure must be responsible and cannot wait for information to be available to handle the situation. The management board said that they had a fundamental solution, but the company was still flooded after the rain at the end of September, "which is unacceptable".
"As a High-Tech Park, flooding is not allowed. The historic rain like last year is acceptable, but the recent rains are not that big," said Mr. Chinh, requesting the Management Board to conduct a general inspection tomorrow, have a plan to dredge and handle the situation thoroughly.
Da Nang Hi-Tech Park was established in 2010, with a total planned area of 1,128.4 hectares with 6 functional zones. The goal of this technology park is to become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors, creating a driving force to promote the development of science and technology in Da Nang and the Central Highlands region.
